A zoo in China has bred koala twins. This is very rare. Apparently the odds of koala twins being born are one in 10,000. Only one other set of twins has ever bgeen recorded. at Sydney's Taronga Park Zoo, more than 40 years ago. They were born in Xiangjiang Safari Park, in southern China. They are seven months old, and have only just come out of their Mothers pouch.Their parents came from a zoo in Queensland. We occcasionally see koalas in my street with a baby, but never twins. They are so cute. You're lucky you can see koalas sometimes. I've never even seen them in zoos. I guess those must be lucky koala twins, with those odds.

white koalas - they are rare but very cute!
HOW CUTE! I've always loved Kolas. Did you ever see a white koala? They are pretty rare. I saw one as a kid and fell in love. But koalas are great. My sister held one before she said they are like teddy bears and cuddly and hold you like a little kid almost. Ah!

that is certainly very adorable indeed! if twins are so rare then this is certainly good news for conservation efforts worldwide, as i believe koalas are pretty rare. as a matter of fact, outside of australia you can only find them in zoos.

Koala and baby - Koala and her baby
I Love Koala's I was a member of Saving the Koala's when I was young and use to get sent information and facts of them I thought it was the Best thing ever.... So I know a little about Koala's and they are known to Koalas breed once a year. Mating normally occurs from September to March and Gestation lasts 35 days, after which one koala is born. Rarely are twins Born. One female may produce only 5 or 6 baby koalas over her lifetime. That is So Wonderful to here about this Lovely Koala having Twins....

They twins looked adorable and the mother is wearing a proud smile. I haven't seen a real koala yet and they look cuddly. I'm not familiar with how a koala is raised but I think they prefer a colder climate. I'm not sure about this though. Thanks for sharing, jenny.

There seem to be able to survive in a variety of climates, but overall they live in warm to very hot areas.

that's adoreable:) do koalas have any problems with multiple births? i had heard sometimes some animals will favor one over the other, and the zoo has to intervene. i hope these two do well though-they look very comfortable next to their mom there :)

As koala twins are very rare indeed, I don't think zoo keepers are aware of problems with multiple births.

Koala Bear - Picture of Koala Bear
I envy you that you can see koalas in the street. I have loved them since I was a child. These little twins are so cute. I have lots of koalas stuffed, figurines on shirts and tote bags and other items people have given me as gifts over the years. My favorite one was given to me by my Grandmother, it is a teeny tiny one about an inch tall It is hard to believe that as cute and cuddly as they look they can be so mean. Thanks for sharing this story. i hadn't heard this about the twins.

That's an adorable picture. I love seeing Koalas. I wished our Zoo here had some. But it doesn't. So I have to resort to the internet for now. Unless I travel somewhere soon. Hmmmm? Thanks for the link as usual. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

The picture is so cute. I would love to visit just to see the koalas. They look so cute. You actually see them in your street. All I get to see is squirrels (they are cute) and skunks(not so cute).
