Have you ever tried to quit smoking?

This is the hardest thing I think I've ever tried to do. After doing a lot of research on the subject I finally understand why. Smoking is a nicotine addiction as much as it is just a habit. Not only does my body crave the drug but my fingers seem to have to have that cigarette between them too. I've tried everything from straws to pencils and so far I'm not having any luck. I've found out that I'm allergic to the nicotine patches so that's out.
Has anyone here tried to quit and succeeded? Are there any tips that you can share?

My boyfriend is on Chantrix and all it seems to be doing is making him sleep all the time. He has been on them over a month now. You can still smoke while you take them and he has cut down a little but of course he's sleeping all the time. I don't think I want that much sleep.

I quit once I fell pregnant! My body rejected it and I felt sick when I could smell it too. I know that isn't a solution but it made me quit 5 years ago LOL

I've been through that. Every time I got pregnant I could quit for the whole time but as soon as that baby cried I was ready for one! Go figure...

I quit smoking "cold turkey" three years ago January 7th. I haven't had one since. I know it sounds crazy but get a farmers almanac and find out when the best time is to quit. That is what I did and I haven't had a craving at all. It didn't bother me in the least. All the other times I tried, I failed miserably. This time it worked. Good luck, I wish you all the best. If I can help in any way, let me know.

Thanks for the tip. I used to read the farmers Almanac a lot but it's been awhile now so I'd better get a copy.

You can try nicotine chewing gum if you're allergic to the patches. Myself I've never started so nothing to quit in my case.

Your a lucky person if you never started. It's a horrible, nasty habit. I have a friend who tried the gum and it made her violently ill so I'll stay away from it but thanks for the idea.

My mother did, she could stop smoking but unfortunately after 18 years she's smoking again... And trying to stop again
