do you prefer to photograph people or scenary? |
|
i enjoy taking photos and usually of scenary. cos it is more predictable. people or animals are hard. cos they move and once the moment is over, that's it. that's why i guess the photos that win contests tend to be of special 'moments' captured. and that doesn't include posed shots, ala wedding photography. although i must say wedding photographers take pains to make people pose naturally.
i like taking scenary, sometimes you can capture a rare moment of sunrise or sunset. the sky can be so amazing and make such a difference to your photo.

1. golfproo (1614) | 3 years ago | I would have to say that I much prefer to take pictures of scenery then I do people. In particular, I love winter shots with snow, blizzards etc... I am not sure why, but I fine them to be quite relaxing. People on the other hand, not so much.:)
cheers

trinidadvelasco (9110) | 3 years ago | it is not so easy to take candid photographs of people anymore. they can always file a complaint against one who will do it to anyone. there is so much talk about this rights crap. long ago, people feel elated if photgraphs are taken of them without their knowledge.

sojournseeker (1032) | 3 years ago | It too depends on what I am seeking to find that day, either the perfect candid smile or emotion captured from a distance or a close-up of natures imperfections in the rocks, valleys, flowers, rivers or whatever my camera is aimed at.

3. trinidadvelasco (9110) | 3 years ago | i will prefer to take photographs of sceneries over that of animals and people, too. the good photographs that can be taken of people and animals will have to be candid ones. and these are not easy to capture. once captured though, it will surely be an awe-inspiring take.

squaretile (2227) | 3 years ago | yup, thanks for sharing so much! I think tourist attractions are so hard to photograph just cos there are so many tourists! but that's because the building is spectacular! a circular kinda problem.
yes, i have a friend working in a village in china and he takes photos of the locals. they oblige, especially children. he also has good shots of gnarled looking old men and women. they arent' really that old age-wise, but look older cos life is hard there.
i think the best shots of buildings or places of interest are the ones that have an object of interest in the foreground. like a cat or a local person. it makes the photo less post-cardy. and more meaningful to your experience of the place.

7. lucgeta (791) | 3 years ago | I like scenaries like landscapes, buildings, statues so you can reevisit them at any time. It is likely that you won;t go back to may of those places and you need mementos. I take photos of people in special ocasions as I have the images of my friends imprinted in my mind:)

8. sunslinger (305) | 3 years ago | I enjoy taking scenaries. THere's something soothing about a well-taken shot. But lately, street photography and taking people in motion holds a certain fascination to me. It seems as if I've captured that moment in time, never to repeat itself.

9. wondericequeen (4416) | 3 years ago | I love both and it's really hard to pick one. I love scenary pictures and they're more easy to take because the moment seems to last longer. Also, I love to magnify how beautiful a place is by a scene and those are really lovely to watch later on too. But for people, I think I love it even though it's harder to take because it definitely brings more live into the picture and it makes you guess what the person was doing, thinking and dreaming at that time. It triggers off some imagination and I love it.

10. ahgong (3785) | 3 years ago | They are both skills in their own right!
Usually I prefer to photograph scenery. But given the opportunity, I want to move on to capturing more people.
It is a skill to be able to capture the perfect moment when you are taking picture of people. With scenery, you have all the time to focus, place your angle and shoot. For people, even when they are posing for the camera, there is a limit to the patience they have for the poses. Take too long and the smiles are no longer natural. Too fast and you may not get the focus or the angle right!
Like they say, practice makes perfect! Hopefully, I will be able to upgrade from a point-n-shoot to a basic SLR set;)

squaretile (2227) | 3 years ago | agree that people's smiles become plastic after a while. my wedding photographer was very good at detecting that. he'd say 'plastic!' and then make us laugh or something, so that the smiles become spontaneous and natural again.
i was with divine couture. their package was reasonable and no hard sell. professional and talented designers, very pleased! can choose from various ala carte photographers. went with robin. prices have risen since then I've heard!
