Can anyone tell me the difference between being emotional and being dramatic.

As far as I know the word drama refers to play acting and performing and usually takes place on a stage. Lately I hear people referring to someone who is having an emotional outburst as being dramatic or into drama. If your being emotional I wouldn't think you would be acting but showing your innermost feelings. Why has it become such a big deal to show that your upset, unhappy or depressed about a situation? Why isn't it called "drama" when your overly happy? Couldn't it be possible that women who are labeled "drama queens" actually have a psychological problem such as manic depression or are bi-polar? When did it come about that it is bad to show our feelings and why do we, women mostly, get called names like drama queen? I've never heard of a drama king but I'll bet there are quite a few out there. People have spent a lot of time and money on learning to give the best dramatic performances possible on stage and it's called acting and is career for those who choose it. Where is the line drawn to show the difference? What do you think? Is it getting out of hand now? Any ideas as to where and why the word drama has turned out to have such a different meaning all of a sudden? ***these are my personal thoughts and opinions.....

That is a good question. I feel that drama, from what I have seen in the younger generation, is a lot of acting out and making people feel sorry for them, or getting upset and provoking arguments when it is not necessary. The younger generation call everything drama now a days.

Going to make this short but in my eyes 'emotional' is letting our feelings out, good or bad, emotions are sincere. I am an emotional person. Dramatic to me is putting on a show - making more out of a situation than there is to it. I have used the term "Drama Queen" many times as I have known several people who are like this.
