If someone wrote a soundtrack of your life, what songs/pieces would it include? Are there songs that when you hear them propel you to a specific incident or time? My latest blog entry includes a writing prompt on this subject. Surf to: http://buriedtreasureswriting.blogspot.com Thanks for your responses!

I'v e always thought that I had a soundtrack to my life...I'll list some as a whole catalogue would simply bore the crap out of everyone. "Cars" by gary Numan is the first song I actually remember "hearing"...gave me goose bumps and pretty much shaped what I've listebned to ever since. the "Dazzle Ships" LP by OMD is one that I associate with my time in Scotland as me and my best pal used to listen to that over and over. "dont dream it's over" by Crowded House is the last song I heard in the aiprot before I left to move to Canada.....all techno music reminds me of my eaely days in Canada cause we used to go to a techno club in Calgary....there are scores of others and I could go on all night, but those are the ones that come to mind right away.

It was very surreal to hear that song at the ariport...it was that, more than anything else, that made me break down. I felt like a big part of my life was over and then that song comes on....If I saw it in a movie I'd have thought it was very cliched

Isn't it funny how if one transcribes actual events exactly as it happened, it's not believable as fiction, or as you said, if it were in a movie, it would come across as cliche. I'm willing to hear more if you want to share. I doubt you'd bore me.

I want to hear more! I'm intrigued. I love OMD. Something about the sound. I know there's a story begging to be written relating to the airport and the Crowded House song. Thanks for posting.

There are quite a few songs that in the future, will put me back to this moment in time, this moment in time when my daughter's father, the man I was SUPPOSED to marry and spend my life with, is in prison. When he writes me, he almost always mentions a song or two for me to listen to, and they always represent his feelings for me, or the current situation between him and I. Songs such as "I'll be there" by Sade, "Photograph" by Nickelback, "Best I can be" by Antidote. There are tons more, but there isn't enough hours in my day to make a complete list.....lol

Thanks for your response. But what about now? Do you ever drive along in the car, and a song comes on the radio, and it reminds you of something? Sounds like you have lots to write about. I hope you do someday.

There are many songs that I hear now and think of my child hood......many many......some of them are "Hey Cinderella" by Suzy Boguss, "Keep on Loving you" by R.E.O. Speedwagon, "Miracle" by Whitney Houston......the list, again, goes on and on.......

Ah yes...Keep on Loving You by REO Speedwagon reminds me of my high school days. I'm glad I didn't marry my high school sweetheart!

I think the leading song would have to be Patty Cline (did I spell her name right?) called "Crazy". I have 3 teens, a small zoo, and a basic life of craziness. LOL I'd definitely have to add a little "rebel" Joan Jett in there as it really does state my ways. I never go with the crowd! The rest of the tracks would be pretty varied from everything from classical to country to rap to rock. Basically because my life is that varied. I'm not complaining about that... I choose to live like that.. I love to be open to new things and ideas and grab life by the horns.

I can relate to living in a zoo. I also have 3 teens, 5 cats and one elderly dog. Never a dull moment! I am not a follower, either.

my mom just made me a movie of pictures from my life starting from my birth. she used four great songs. the first one was hurt by christina agulara because i once told her that it reminds me of my father. the next song was one by kelly clarkson, dont remember the name right now. then the next one was in my daughters eyes and the last one which featured pics of my kids was a song called i have been blessed. it is by the same singer as in my daughters eyes. it was so moving. everyone that watches it cries!! i cant watch one second of it without tearing up!!!

I've been making a soundtrack of my life since I was in high school lol! There are definitely songs that remind me of a time. Not very specific event though but a general time. Here's a sample list: 1. Love Sensation by 911 - reminds me of Grade 4 2. If I Let You Go by Westlife - reminds me of Grade 5 3. On the Line - reminds me of freshman year high school (also when I posted all those ARE YOU HER posters in the classroom to promote the movie. Don't know what I'm talking about? Check out www.imdb.com) 4. Passenger Seat by Stephen Speaks - reminds me of sophomore year 5. Hey Ya by Outkast - reminds me of prom junior year Things like that. I know the songs are pretty cheesy, but I was cheesy back then lol! There are other songs. I'd like to list them down somewhere. :)

I like that you have songs that remind you of specific periods in your lifetime. I can't hear "I Can't Get No Satisfaction" without thinking of the summer I worked at Hersheypark. I was working in the employee cafeteria at the time, and one of my co-workers was cutting melons and swinging a knife while singing that song. LOL!

Yes, there would certainly be songs that would represent certain eras of my life. For instance, when my first husband walked out and I was trying to carry on with my life, I tried so hard to be happy -go-lucky and look 'okay' to others. Inside I was miserable. For this era of my life the song 'Tears of a Clown' by Smokey Robinson would be my favorite...as it says it perfectly! My current hubby (soul mate) and I were married to Manheim Steamroller tunes. We love their music. Our courtship and marriage era would have to have their tunes! The years of raising my children could each be represented by tunes from those decades! (70's, 80's and 90's)

well, i think if my life would have a soundtrack, it would have to be "unwritten" by natasha bedingfield. the lyrics are nice and it really suits me, who is just starting to find out what life really is. :)
