Change in priority

As I have grown older my priorities have changed. I used to think that having a clean house was one of the most important things on my "to do" list. Now I find that it's not the end all if I don't have every dish put away and the rug vacumned. I am finding that having fun or doing something I love is more important. How have your priorities changed as you have grown older.

Yes, very much so. Our home used to be spotless. Everything in it's place, always! I used to drop into bed at night from being so tired and stressed out. I cleaned everyday like company was coming. Finally one day I was fussing at my oldest about a mess he had left and my husband said something to me that changed my way of thinking. He said, you are going to have a stroke one of these days worrying over these little things. So what he has a little mess in his room, close the door and move on. I thought on this and he was right. The world is NOT going to end if you missed a piece of lint on the floor. Our home is still clean, but I no longer knock myself out over it any longer. I feel so much better because of it!

It's actually kind of a relief as when I have company now I don't get up and down trying to keep up with the mess. For me the turning point came when my daughter's family was visiting and I complained that they never finished one can of pop. She said, If you would wait more then 10 minutes before you thought you had to put it in the garbage we would probably finish the whole thing. I hadn't realized how fussy I had become!
