Memorial Day and seatbelts  

I wear my seatbelt any time the car is going to be moving. My son got on my case years ago and got me in the habit of wearing it. There is no thought to it now. It is a long established habit for me. Anyone that rides in my car also has to buckle up. I do think it is alright for the government to pass a law that is for the safety of the person. Be safe and careful this memorial day weekend.

I always wear mine, and a law has recently been passed in the uk too where every passenger including children and small babies have to be secured in a seat appropriate for their age group too. The penalty for not doing so is 1000 which I think is enough of an incentive however I still see people occasionally not wearig thiers and it angers me. I hope they get caught as not only are they indangering their ow lives but those of the other people in teh car too, especially if they are in the back seats they could crush the people in the front ones on impact reguardless of whether teh front passengers are belted up. Seatbelts save lives and I think that people should not take it so flippantly, I value my life and that of other people and ensure I clunk click every trip.

I were my seatbelts and also insist others to do the same after all its our life thats at stake , not a low price to pay but a fatal accident can be saved if we were the belt.

I wear my seat belt all the time, and like you I will not leave the driveway untill my passengers are belted in. As for the gov. making it a law, well I think it's a good idea because some people can't think and need to be told what to do. In that sense the gov. is the parent. Why do I buckle up? Simply because I wish not to go flying thru the windshield if I should get in a crash.
