I have 4 kids. People seem to think that's a big family. I grew up in Utah... where 4 is just a good start. ;~D My Grandma and Grandpa had 6 kids, 37 grandkids and 73 great grandkids. My parents had 6 kids and 20 grandkids (so far). How about you, do you come from a big family, with lots of cousins running around? Or a small family?

I always wanted a big family, but I guess God knew better than I did on what I could handle. :D I have only 2 first cousins...I can't imagine having 36 first cousins! Do you even know all their names? LOL!

Hello ParaTed, My folks had four of us, and one half-brother from a previous marriage. My mother was one of only two children. My father, one of four children. On the other hand, my husband has 6 sibblings. His mother is one of 14 children, and Hubby's father is one of 16 children. Both of his parents grew up in the farmlands of northern Maine, where it was quite typical to have very large families. My sibblings have continued the small family lines. I only have two nieces, and one nephew. Of course, I have two great-nephews, and one grandchild -- on the way. But, I think the days of bearing oodles & gazoodles of children are a thing of the past.

There was 7 of us all told, although the ages varied a lot so we didn't all grow up together. The 3 oldest lived with my dad after the divorce, and the four youngest lived with my mom and my stepdad after they got married, so in a way there was 2 different sets of kids. We finally all got together after a while, but we kinda got scattered over the years.

I am #5 of six kids in my family. Where I grew up in Cali it was unheard of to have so many kids in one family. We stood out. It didn't help that my dad drove a vw bus the color of a bus. I am also half samoan and mormon. Those two things right there has now become the norm for having a big family. When people would find out their reaction was always "oh that makes sense'. Samoans do have big families and I grew up with hundreds of cousins close by. We had a family reunion once at a park, that looked like a city fair or carnival was going on there were so many people! I now have a small family of only 3 boys, and it is hard to adjust. I am so used to always having someone somewhere in the house. It is unimaginable for me to think of raising 6 like my mom or 7 or 8 like my aunts have. I like having a big family for when we get older there will be more people around to love. My grandparents on my dads side have 3 kids, 18 grandkids and 25 great grandkids. To be able to live that long and see that many in your blood lines would be a feat in itself. One Ihope to accomplish.
