Do you think Rock and Roll is indeed dead? |

Maybe I am just getting old, but it seems after High school, eons ago, music just died.

1. craftcatcher (2277) | 3 years ago | I personally don't think so. It's like everything else, it evolves and changes with the times.
I sing in a rock band and though we tend to do a lot of classic rock and blues from the 70's and 80's, which has made a comeback in the last few years, we also do some newer rock too and I really enjoy it. There's a lot of good music out there.
I think every genre goes thru stagnant, cookie cutter periods until someone comes along with something different to give it a kick in the pants. You just have to be open to it, then if you don't like it go back to the same ol' same ol' until something else comes along and give that a try.

Ravenladyj (18028) | 3 years ago | I dont think rock is dead...I mean some of the classics are still kickin it like the Stones for example they are still touring and bringing out new LPs and so on....I do think though that just like with every decade there is a shift in the type of music...in the 60s you had your psychadelic and stoner rock, 70s is was disco and what is now classic rock, 80s you had glam rock, then in came grunge through to mid 90s and then alternative..One thing that has absolutely hung on all through these decades is Classic Rock.....and even kids today are enjoying it...my daughter and some of her friends love the rock I grew up on....So no I dont think rock is dead at all..

saralee1 (713) | 3 years ago | I think the alternative has kinda always been around, even before grunge rock, and glam rock! I remember psychedelic furs, and a few others that were ravenously popular back then.

Ravenladyj (18028) | 3 years ago | Oh see now I dont classify the Furs as alternatvie at all...they were more new wave-ish IMO..I'm a huge Furs fan (have been for yrs)...

5. 5000ml (1836) | 3 years ago | I don't think anything is dead, rock and roll or even music itself has just evolved and gone on with the time. Society changes all the time and you often can see that reflected in the music. There are now a lot of new genres in which certain bands and musicians are doing excellent stuff, you just have to know how to look for them!

6. ParaTed2k (4591) | 3 years ago | There are still bands putting out Rock & Roll. Some of them are still going from the 60s and 70s... but there are newer rockers going to.
As long as there are folks plugging in, there will be rock!!
