When you go shopping for your children what toys do you love to buy for them ? Do you like buying educational toys , toys that have been around for years , toys that are cheep , or toys that you would have wanted when you were a child ? There are so many toys to choose from when you go to buy something for your children but which toys do you enjoy shopping for . My daughter is obsessed with Dora the Explorer so I love to buy her Dora toys because I know she is going to love them but if I am not looking for something with Dora on it , I like to buy toys that are educational that will teach something for my children .

I would buy the educational toys. Now I don't buy toys a lot but my understanding is that Dora is educational and by buying the toys, you are supporting the education. It really is amazing, things that we don't see as educational actually are. I work with developmentally disabled adults and they do things like childrens puzzles. One day I asked one of them to plug something in. I then realized there is a connection between puzzles - no matter what the picture and everyday life. The plug going into the outlet was an adult puzzle. I think with little ones, many toys are educational but in a way we don't think of as educational.

I love Dora because she is educational and believe that she has been a big part in my childs development because my child is very smart for her age and althogh we do take the time to teach her things , I have to give a lot of the credit to Dora as well . It is true that we can find a puzzle in so many everyday things we do . Thank you for your response .

I like to buy toys that need some creativity. My daughter is great at art, so I usually will hit the craft sections when purchasing toys for her. She went threw the Dora stage also. I bought everything Dora and the next year sold them at our garage sale for pennies. I tend to not by things that are phases anymore.

My child is only 10 months old so he doesn't have any toy preferences at the moment. I love buying him are the educational toys which helps him develop and grow to be an intelligent kid. He is also starting to like cartoons now like barney and bob the builder so I guess I have to buy those kinds of stuff now because I know that he'll be able to appreciate it now.

It actually depends on what my son would like as his interests change all the time from trains, trucks, cars, to toy soldiers, card games, puzzles, dominoes, letter and word games, building blocks, lego etc etc. I love to buy a variety and sometimes they are the cheap kind and sometimes I pay a little more. On his birthday I do tend to splurge a little more than usual. At the moment he is into Diego and Dora, Power Rangers, Ninja Turtles, Lego and building blocks and any type of kids card games.

I use to buy all them fancy educational toys, but as time went on and the the kids would one way or another find a way to ruin it. I have learned to go with the simple easy to use toys, and they seem to appreciate them more then the expensive type ones =)

I love Lamaze and The First Years toys especially the soft ones. They're made with quality materials and most of their toys are award winners. My daughter loves them a lot and prefers to cling on to them than her other toys. She can use it until she's around 2 years old as most of their designs and features still entice children above 12 months. However, I don't buy toys that are made of plastic materials that do smell like plastic. They're known to be toxic. Stick to those who follow the regulations and are award winners as well.

I prefer buying my children education games which both of them can play together. I avoid individual games. My children are more prone to buy games of barbie. Doll house, kitchen set, doctor set etc. I have bought them all but when i get in to the game we play carrom and scrable.

My daughters are raised now but we do buy for the grandkids. They are both toddlers. We try to buy the old fashioned toys. The ones like we had for our kids. Usually Fisher Price toys. I think that the toys today lack the ability for creative encouragement. The old fashioned toys encourage creativity.

I always opt to buy educational toys with characters like Dora, Barney, Barbie and other cartoon on it that my children just love. However, due to my being a book lover, my daughter ages 2 & 5 years old have developed proclivity with books so I buy lots of books for them which they enjoy looking at and 'reading' for hours.

I mainly buy my daughter educational toys for her age group. Every now and then I'll buy her other toys such as Dora, my daughter loves Dora too. She has a lot of Dora dolls, but they need to make more educational Dora toys.

I will buy the toys the child want to get if I can affort it. child has his choice for his interest, and he can do decision for himself,I hope he can do it, too. so give him the chance to choose, and tell him what is good , what is bad, then let him choose. and tell him he should be response to his choice. I think it is a good way to teach the child to make a good choice.

Like I bought them the V-smile. I love it and so do they. Its very educational and fun at the same time. They dont even realize there learning.

I buy simple toys. No lights and noises, nothing that takes batteries. I think simple toys that require creativity are better than a lot of the "educational" toys they market today.

my baby is still less than a year. i tend to buy toys that he can appreciate this early. he likes colorful toys and rattles. he seems to be always amazed by circling crib toys or anything that is moving. i would buy toys that would encourage not only his physical but also his creative and emotional developments.

I always seem to go for the educational toys first. I think it is great that our children can learn and still have fun. My sons favorite toys are the eductional ones the ones that dont do anything and that are there to simply just play with he has no intrest in them. Also amoung toys I will never tell him no for wanting to buy more books.

i buy depending on their interests at that time. Right now they are into sports. So we just bought a bunch of different balls and equipment. I find some educational toys pointless because it goes right over my kids heds sometimes. But I like to throw in a few of them every christmas or birthdays. I like them to have things they will appreciate and not what the hype is for that moment. I am not knocking Dora (my niece loves her) I will just use it as an example from my kids experience. I found when I bought them their favorite t.v character like say spongebob, they lost interest very fast. It got played out. They started to like to watch Diego and always asked for Diego stuff. Now it is Backyardigans . So it changes depending on their interests. I don't deprive them or anything. Ijust like them to have toys that will last past their in the moment craze that happens sooften with them.
