Why after famous people?

Whenever any famous person comes to the public places people are just after them, just want to shake hand with, say hello take photographs , autograph etc.
Why people act that way? For me all the person are same and never tried out such thing. I feel like laughing when people do such act.

Maybe they can tell anyone else... their friends or relatives. Something to boast .. maybe..
Something like.. "Ooo... i met and handshake with Christina!!"

you got me there. i too question why. i have seen people actually jumping up for joy after "shaking hands" with someone famous. the famous person probably forgotten that handshake a second afters its done.
