Do you agree or disagree with Dale Jr.'s decission to go to Hendrick for the next FIVE years? I totally disagree and I sure hate to see him go there. Hopefully some of his fans will go with him but I won't. If he had gone with a different team then yes I would have followed him but when he joined up with Gordon and Johnson he really did disappoint me.
Why does a driver think it is the team name that will make them a champion and a race winner. It is the driver not the team that wins the races ..... oh wait, I guess I am wrong there, it seems like NASCAR does give Gordon and Johnson the upper hand when it come to favortisim.
Ok, sad day in our family. So long Jr. too bad you could not stay with your dad's Inc. but it appears it is TEI and not DEI.

I will continue to be a Jr. fan, even though he has switched teams. He will still be a good driver, and I am expecting that most of his fans will stay with him. And it seems that the team can make some difference for a driver. Some teams have more resources behind them so they can do more research and development. Winning teams can attract the better pit crews and spotters, because people want to be with a winning team. This is no different than tennis champions switching coaches to become better, or when pro teams switch their players around to become stronger. I agree, it will not be the same having Jr. drive for someone other than DEI. It won't be the same with him no longer in the red # 8. But he will still be a good driver and the same person he was before. That's why I like him. I, for one, will continue to be a Jr. fan unless his personality changes or he becomes a reckless driver like some others out there.

I still like Jr. I just don't like his choice of teams. Maybe 2 of his new teammates can take some lessons from him on how not to be a reckless driver. Not sure though since Jr. did say he will still be out there to beat Gordon. LOL
I just think that is is sad that he had to leave the DEI that was his dad's. To me it also takes good driving to be on a winning team, yes money does talk when you can get the "better" things in life but money isn't everything.

I agree it is sad he had to leave DEI. DEI will never be the same. And somehow Jr. driving for any other team just won't be the same. I did hear rumors that there might be a way he could still end up driving # 8 next year - a round-about three-way trade where Hendrick could get # 8. That would be better as far as I'm concerned.

You know Tyc, I think about this, and I don't know what disgreement he has had with his sister, I just skimmed it, and I didn't pay attention, but I don't know what it is like to not get along with any of my brothers or sisters! Do you think that money and/or fame does that to people? It's just beyond my comprehension!

Oh, ok, it must have been his stepmother that I was reading about! Thank you Tyc, now I understand what is going on! It's a mess isn't it?

Well, I really dont follow stockcar racing very closely so I am limited in what I know. I understand that his dad left the DEI company to Jr.'s stepmother. I would have thought it would have gone to the son, but...I've heard that stepmon and Jr. did not get along and she would not work with him to keep him and improve the company the father started. Rumors were at one point that Jr would be given 51% of DEI but he and stepmother could not agree. I guess it will be very good for his new team cause he will bring sponsors to them.

You got that right, Jr. and his step mother did not get along at all. She was not going to give him 51%, he was going to have to pay her several million dollars for the percentage. Off hand I can't remember how much it was.
I would have thought that all of Dale Sr's children would have been given an interest along with Theresa in the company. Since she has the interest in it I'm sure that Dale Sr.'s children with his first wife will be left out in the cold.
Please everyone, don't hate .... I am intitled to my opinion just like the rest of ya'll.

That's what I would have thought, too. Just goes to show us that we need to keep up with our wills and make it known who will get what. I can see the ex not getting anything, but the blood children? Well each state is different in its laws but most places people can give their stuff to whomever. I think Jr. got a raw deal.

I agree with you about the raw deal. When Jr. made his announcement about leaving DEI he mentioned he wanted to go somewhere so he could take care of his family. Yes, Jr.'s mother should not be in on DEI but you wuold think that Sr. would have thought of his own mother. Looks like Jr. is one fine person to think of helping his family and making sure his mother and grandmother are taken care of.
That still don't make me like his decision to go to Hendrick. hahahaha

I have to say that I was floored when he announced that he was going to drive for Hendrick. I just knew that he would go to RCR, but I guess that was just wishful thinking on my part.
I am not a fan of Gordon and Johnson, and just because Dale Jr. will be driving on the same team does not mean that I have to become a fan of the 24 and 48.
Dale Jr did what he had to do in order to stay competitive and win races and right now Hendrick is the team to beat.
Can you blame him for going to the best team out there?
I think that it will give him the chance to prove himself as a driver and not as the son of a legend following in his shadow.
I wish Dale Jr all the luck in the world at Hendrick and I will still be pulling for him.

I agree with you to a point. I just wish he had not gone with Hendrick. I really don't like Hendrick and he is sure a cry baby right now saying he is going to possibly appeal NASCAR's penalties with Gordon and Johnson. I think they should have been fined more since it was done on purpose and it was not an accidental thing.
I do think Jr. is a good driver and I wish he had not signed a 5 year contract with them. I see that it is about time that a different team is fixing to come to the "head of the class" and rule the tracks and Hendrick team is going to go down.

I will be a fan regardless but what I really hope is that he gets to take the number 8 with him as far as im concerned the a Jr. number and like his dad's it should stay his number. and I totally agree with the fact that its TEI not DEI at least it seems that way

Oh I will always like Jr. I just don't like his future "team mates".
If he don't get the bud #8 car to drive in Nextel at least we will get to see him driving it in the Busch races.
I was just reading on nascar.com and it don't look too promising to me that he will get his #8 in Nextel. I'm sure the wicked old step mother will hold out for millions of dollars. hahaha

Team does have a lot to do with it. If that's not the case, then Gordon, by your thoughts, is a far better driver than Dale. Hendrick has won 10 of 14 races this year. Anyone looking for top equipment would be a fool not to look at Hendrick.
As far as favoritism goes, with Dale, Sr. gone, they had to look to someone to favor. I don't think there is that kind of favoritism that goes on, although I do believe some does. Several of the drivers actually referred to Dale, Jr.s car as the "company" car after Dale, Sr.s passing. So, perhaps you've got it wrong there.
Dale, Sr. left the team to Teresa. Why would he do that instead of the son? Teresa was a huge part of the success of that team and it's very formation. Dale loved her and thought she would do the best job of taking care of the team. I think to doubt Dale's reasoning is to dishonor the man.

Don't put words in my mouth please. I never said that Gordon was a better driver. He may be a NASCAR favorite, he may be a dirty driver and I know he is full of excuses and whines when he don't do good. Johnson is just like Gordon now also.
Most people do include their children in their family business in some way or other and I would have thought that Dale Sr. would have included his children in part ownership of the business.
When you say that Dale Sr. loved his wife I don't know anything about that. She does have some business smarts and I'm sure he had most of the money to start the business Heck, she could be like the evil step mother that I once had and that was not a good one.
I do know that if I had the money for a business my children and grandchildren would for sure be included some way or another and not have to fork over millions to buy my way into the business.
I was never a Dale Sr. fan and if you think I have dishonored the man I'm sorry you think that way. I just think he put other things before his first family.

Well I am a Jr. fan and though I am not totally thrilled about him signing with Hendrick I will still be a fan. Besides maybe he could teach those Cali boys how to quit whining so much. I am a little surprised that it was Kyle who got ousted, but so goes it in the world of Nascar.
As for who DEI was left to, the last time anything was done to Dale Sr's will was in 1992. At that time Dale Jr. was all of 18 or 19. And as all of us know his father felt he had a lot of growing up to do. I am sure Sr. did not have intentions on things going this way but they have.
So instead of not being a Jr. fan stop being a TEI fan. Just don't buy or support anything with the DEI logo or the Chance 2 logo (as Teresa was a part of that too) Keep supporting Jr. Motorsports though and who knows maybe someday he will drive for himself

I don't know if anything or anyone can get Gordon to stop his whining. haha Maybe after his child is born and is older and she whines he will see how it is and stop doing it. hahaha
As for the will, that just goes to show that people need to keep their wills current and updated if they have one. It don't matter if he needed to grow up or not, what about his other kids?
No doubt will keep supporting Jr. Motorsports, just can't find it in my heart to support TEI or Hendrick.

i agee with his dession to go to hendrics it a carer choice hes making a stand for what he belives in as to fair play i blame this move on his step mother not him after all he is the company. in a matter of speaking.hendrics has one of the best motors bilt for nascar and has maintained a good win recored. as well as the driver winning the race it takes a good team and car i know one of the drives is my cousin

Yes, there are many factors in winning a race. I do agree with you about Teresa being the reason for him leaving and I'm sure this is one of the hardest things he has had to do.
I also have a cousin who used to drive many years back. He had to quit due to heart problems and it was very hard on him as he loved racing and cars oh so much. So, he got his health taken care of and moved on in a different direction, he started coming up with his own ideas on cars and they were built and sold, also some pick up trucks also.
His name is Carroll Shelby and we can thank him for the Shelby Cobra and the Viper. :)
