I have a very small apartment and if I leave a light on in one room I can see it from every other room.
The only time I will leave one on and it's usually the bathroom light, is when I'm not feeling well and think I might be making some middle of the night trips. Other than that I like to turn them all off.
Do you use nightlights or keep a specific light on when you go to bed at night?

That's a good way to cut down on your electric bill.

We shut off all the lights in the house. The only light kept on is the front porch lights. When our kids were little, we always kept a nightlight on in the hallway or one in their bedrooms.

I have three kids, ages 10, 4, and 3. So yes I keep two night lights on for them. One in the bathroom and one in the kitchen, so that way if they get up in the middle of the night they can find there way around with out breaking something or hurting themselves.

There are a lot of people who have to have a light on at night no matter what the reason may be.

We have a lava lamp in our bedroom that we use as a nightlight. It gives off just enough of a blue glow that it's not pitch black in our bedroom, and the light shines enough into the hallway that we can get to the bathroom with no problem.

The old lava lamps! They used to be so "in" and it looks like their coming back again. They always made a great nightlight.

The tv makes a perfect nightlight but I usually set the timer so mine goes off two hours after I've gotten into bed. I'm usually asleep by that time.

A lot of people can't sleep with any sort of light at all on. I only need it when I think I'll be getting up during the night.

Bed? What's that? HAHAHA! Night? HAHAHA! Well I have a nightlight in the living room. So I guess thats the only one that's on when I do finally go to bed. Most nights I am up till 4 or so in the morning. By then the suns coming up so a light isn't needed. But I don't keep lights on if I am in bed. Now when I leave my house at night I keep my 3-way lamp on the low setting is it.

I can't stand light in the room in which I am sleeping. Even my alarm clock light is too bright...I have to turn it towards the wall! Ha! I am about to invest in some nightlights for the hallway and bathrooms though. Hubby has had both hips replaced with artificial ones (secondary to arthritis) and I so worry about him falling! (he is up and down all night).

I sometimes turn my alarm clock towards the wall too only because it's that red LED and it seems to throw such a glare in the room.

When your not used to keeping a light on and forget to turn one off it's so noticeable isn't it?

I have always kept a nightlight on in the bathroom at night. For nearly 30 years I said it was 'for the kids' but since they are grown and often I am home alone at night I find myself disoriented if I don't leave a nightlight on. Honestly, I am afraid of the dark also so think that could be a reason :)

Yea as much as I would like to blame all my 'problems' on the age thing - I've had a fear of the dark for as long as I can remember. Not that I go into panic or anything just 'uncomfortable' and prefer a small like of some sort.

ha ha....I think I'm afraid of the dark too. Must have something to do with age? Nah...I don't think so!

No, I don't leave any lights on when I head to bed. For some reason I don't like to have lights on at all unless someone is using it. I also worry about waking everyone else up by having a light on. I do however require noise of some kind when I am trying to fall asleep. I sometimes leave the television on or I will turn on a radio.

I'm the same way with the noise. It has to be talk radio or the tv with the timer set to go off.

No, I am a strictly a it-must-be-dark-and-even-my-alarm-clock-is-too-bright kind of person.
My kids at different ages and stages of their lives have had a night light or have left the closet or bathroom light on. But I have always walked around after everyone is asleep turning off lights. It bothers me.
Like I said, my alarm clock is even too bright and I have a switch on the alarm clock that has a setting to turn the light down to "low". Sorry...but that thing does not go low enough. Most of the time I will have a cup of water in front of it blocking some of the light. But if I forget a cup of water when I am going to bed, you can be sure that I am putting something or anything else in front of it to block out the light! ha ha

I use a nightlight in the bathroom.....but not in the bedroom.I just don't sleep very well when there is a light on and I keep waking up in the middle of the night because of it.I can't even stand those alarm clocks with the big green numbers.I prefer a dark room to sleep in....not pitch black....because I do get some light from the street lights outside....but that is a very dim light...since it's filtered through the blinds.

I have a specific lamp I leave on for my son. Its nice and low, not bright at all and I tend to leave it on all night, just incase he needs to get up and go to the bathroom or something.

Nope--When my mother was still alive I had to keep practically every light on in the apt. as she had horrible eyesight..so I think she was a bit afraid of the dark as she might fall....Now that she's gone I don't have any lights on when I go to bed...and even if I do have to make a trip to the bathroom..my night vision is really so great I don't need a light..mmmmm....maybe I'm a cat after all..after years and years of having cats...LOL

When we have elderly people in the house with us it's necessary to keep lights on for them. Without them I'm sure there would be more accidents. Could it be that your night vision has now changed because of your cats? hmmmm....could be!

Its always lights off, though lights on doesn't bother me at all anyways but I'd prefer sleeping with lights off. :)

Same here. I would much rather have the lights off when I go to sleep. They tend to keep me awake.

Those glade plug in lights are double great aren't they? Between the light and the aroma you can't lose.
