My son was asked to sing the National ANthem at the West Virginia Power Baseball game on Fathers Day (tomorrow) What an honor indeed!Last night, he asked me if he could dedicate it to his daddy up in heaven. I broke down crying! NOw that I am over that, I did have the question....
Can you dedicate the anthem? Is this the right word to use? I am not sure of the etiquette on this, or if it should even be done.
Please help!

that is absolutely beautiful. I wish I knew the answer to your question, there must be some way of doing it.
"I sing this in honor of our nation and her heroes, especially the hero I call Daddy, may the flag ever wave and may he ever rest in peace"

I don't know if they allow it to be dedicated or not but they should. If he can dedicate it since it is Fathers Day it might go over a little better to say something like this - "I would like to dedicate this to all fathers on Fathers Day & especially to my Daddy who is up there in Heaven." - How old is your son? Like you I would have cried - hope he enjoys his day. God Bless

I bet this is too late for me to post this, but I think he can and should!! I cant imagine anyone having a problem with it. I hope it went good, can't wait to hear an update.

I don't know if dedicating the song is the right way to say it. The song already is dedicated to the soldiers in the Baltimore Harbor and the flag which represents us. But as it was Father's Day and his dedication to his father is so noble, dedicate his voice and his rendition to his father. Sing it in honor of his father. Honor his memory along with the dedication and honoring of the country.
