Do you leave your heating on at Night? |
| |
| When it's Cold? Here in Australia it is winter and the nights have been mighty cold. I was wondering If people left their heating on over night??? I turn mine on in the late afternoon depending but ususally around 4pm and turn it off when I go to bed and I set it to come on in the morning at 6am and turn it off about 9-10am again and give it a rest although somedays the house gets really cold so I turn it back on throught the day... Please share what you do with your heating and what type it is? | | | | | |

| | Hello, pinklilly,i do not use the heating now,i think melbourne is colder than sydney, the temperature here is around 13 degree and i can still bear the coldness when i wear more clothes. Also I am afraid i will have to pay an expensive bills if i leave the heater overnight. So how much do you pay for the electricity in the winter? | | | | | | |

| | Yeah Melbourne is usually always colder than Sydney, Today in fact it is only meant to get to 11c possible Thunderstorms although it looks ok outside now... I'v just changed companys in hope to get a lower bill(so they reckon) it is usually between 350-450 for 3months sometimes more sometimes less but that also depends on other electronic factors. If my partner is working in the garage alot with power tools and the compressor and welder that uses alot of power and results in a large bill... | | | |

| | I am from Australia too, Adelaide in fact. The nights have been freezing, literally. No, I don't leave the heating on overnight, as it is too expensive. Either my husband or myself turn it on in the morning. If I am the only one home, I turn it off aftr the early morning cold, & prefer to waer a warm jumper. I may have to to turn the heating on aghain around 12 noon, or 3.00pm. It then needs to stay on until we are all in bed. Basicly, I try to keep the heater off for as much as possible, & only use it for early moring & night. My husband, however, wants to keep it on all day. So I dread to think of the next electricty bill. | | | | | | |

| | We have a 2 story home so downstairs can get really cold so usually the bottom heater is always the one used and as I said comes on in the morning than turned off during the day and than turned on again around 3-4pm, Then off at night. My partner is pretty much the same as yours, It's freezing leave it on, but than he will walk outside or in tha garage and leave the door open and that annoys the hell out of me... He also has a heater in the garage but that is hardly used... Although a few weeks ago he left it on and I was mega peeved about it..I didn't even know he had turned it on and he didn't even know he left it on.... | | | |

| | I live in Tasmania, where it is so cold that the water in the hose froze overnight, and we had to turn it on for a while to make the water run through so we could hose the cars off. We have a heat pump - which is like an airconditioner, but in reverse, and run that all night. It gets so cold that it cuts out due to the fact that it can't cope with it as the main part is outside. We have it set to come on at 3 in the afternoon, and then it turns off at 8.20 - which is about the time the kids leave to go on the school bus. My youngest (5) still wets the bed on occasion, so we can't have an electric blanket on her bed, and the others are fine. It was so cold this morning that the water in the bird bath froze, so I hit that with the hose when I was hosing my car off as well. | | | | | | |

| | My water bed is heated and I turn it right down in the morning when I get up then at about 7pm I put it up ready for when I get in at about 10pm or 11pm. I have a heater in my office and it's a small room so I can have it on low and be snuggly. I still wear lots of clothes so I can save on the energy and the cost. My kitchen warms up when I cook so that's good and I have a heater in the lounge room for when I watch TV. Heating costs are extortionate. | | | | | | |

| | well pinklilly..It seems you are fighting against cold.Infact the other comments in this topic showing a sign of battle with heater against cold..I like winter but I do not have to use room heater as the temperature does not cross below 8 degree celcius during Winter. So I enjoy winter sleeping under thick blanket in holidays...when I do not allow anyone to disturb..lol.Sorry to say .that.you have to keep your room heater on which increase your monthly expense. But winter has its own sweet flavour.I enjoy it.. | | | | | | |

| | I would love to have a kanara and be in the snow for a winter season I think that would be lovely... It is because I have children that the heating is mainly on as my son doesn't like to wear jumpers...Our night tempretures have been around the 1 degree celcius mark lately, rather chilly.... | | | |

| | Wow, I wish it were cold here! I live in Singapore and right now the weather is soooo hot, even though it's been raining. :( I used to live in Taiwan before... during winter, we always had the heater on. We never switched it off, even when we werent at home. I think if you live in a cold country, the heater is something you can't do without. The cold can really be unbearable and make it hard to be productive. Once when we were out, our heater broke down, and when we got back the entire place was really really cold, especially the floor! I hate stepping on cold floors, especially when you just wake up! If it's possible, why not leave the heater on all the time? At least, it's justifiable. Being cold will stop you from getting work done; being hot doesn't. That's why I say, you can do without the aircon, but you can't do without a heater! | | | | | | |
