I picked up the second and revised edition of this book while waiting for a plane last week, and have found it absorbing reading. Only in a couple of places did I find that the information was just too much. Overall, this is the most interesting non-fiction book I've read in a long time, primarily because it's imaginative in its approach to life and statistics.

I don't know whose responses or comments you've come across, but Freakonomics is anything but a boring book. It's been a bestseller since it first came out, and there's a blog associated with it as well.

Check that out: it might give you a better idea of what it's all about. Sometimes you have to ignore negative comments and try things out for yourself!
