Anyone here held a craft fair?

I used to sell various things at craft fairs here in the UK - mainly aromatherapy products like soaps and massage oils. They always sold pretty well although of course I don't know if it will be the same where you are. Usually stalls selling home baked cakes and biscuits, etc do well here too - although if I tried to bake anything I suspect it wouldn't look that appetising lol!!

I've done quite a few craft fairs, though none in the area where I currently live. You will want to check into things like whether they will be providing you with a table and chairs, or if you need to bring your own. You may also need to check into whether or not you will have electric outlets--not necessary for a lot of crafters, but there are some who prefer or need to have them.

As for what will sell and what won't, I've found that it varies widely. I do know that there is a lot of competition when it comes to jewelry in many venues--a lot of people make jewelry and sell it at craft shows.

As for random tips, be sure to make your display attractive and not too cluttered. It's usually a good idea to bring a tablecloth or a length of fabric that can be used to cover your table. If you have plastic shelves or any other way to add height to your display, you will find that you have a lot more room on your table. And make sure you have a change box. I usually maintained a change box with $100 in change, mainly small bills and quarters. I can't count how many times my "neighbors" at the craft fairs would have to come to me for change. I should have charged a service fee.;)
