Hiking & Walking |
|
Hiking is something I'd love to try someday. That's if I can get away from dad. HAHAHA!! It's great to get away from computers for a little bit and get some fresh air! But you don’t have to travel all the way to Arizona if you want to go hiking. There’s probably a great trail somewhere close to you. Trail Database can help you find a good location to take a hike. Not only does it cover the United States, it covers the entire world. You’ll find stories and pictures of the trails. And if you’re a newbie, don’t forget to read about the equipment you’ll need. There are also safety tips. Check this site out if you are interested in hiking. http://traildatabase.org/ HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

1. latsmom (625) | 1 year ago | I agree, some people don't even know what is near to them and pass certain landmarks in the car and take no notice where as if they were hiking they woudl see a lot more, I think it is nice to get away from the technology, switch your phone pff and go for a walk sometimes, hiing is a bit hardcore for me, but I do like to go for a walk on my own to clear my head.

webeishere (9520) | 1 year ago | Hiking is not hardcore. Theres the simple hiking of local parks etc. It's not always a hard exercise type of hike. I hike but it's more like a long hard walk. One can hike through a nature center. One can hike through a State Park or something along those lines. Someone can hike up and down a river trail. Hiking doesn't have to be hardcore. webeishere (9520) | 1 year ago | to hike: to move, pull, or raise with a sudden motion to walk: to move along on foot, advance by steps, to come or go easily or readily There's the difference.

3. sigma77 (4293) | 1 year ago | Thanks for the information. I would like to do some serious hiking one day. I would like to go hiking out west but would need to get in much better shape to tackle some of those mountain trails..lol. I bet there are plenty of great trails in your state. I guess I would have to leave the computer at home...lol.

5. cdparazo (3609) | 1 year ago | I would also love to go hiking and trekking. There is an organization here in our City that trains novice hikers or trekkers like me. I also look forward to it. They plan the activities throughout the year. I also want to try caving. But one thing at a time. he he he! Happy trekking Grandpa Bob!

6. blackbriar (4945) | 1 year ago | You don't even need to follow a trail to hike. Hiking is not just walking along paths. I hike thru open fields and woods with no paths but never walk in the same place I've already been. If you find a deer trail, those can be hiked on as well as long as you don't go breaking all the branches in your way and leaving litter behind. Hence the saying... Take only memories, leave only footprints behind.

blackbriar (4945) | 1 year ago | Bet that sucks having asthma. My hubby has it as well and can't do some of the things he so enjoyed b4 he developed it. We go hiking or bike riding now and he has to stop and rest alot and sometimes he can't do those things at all. Used to be we would go for hours without stopping.

7. joey_matthews (5043) | 1 year ago | I went hiking quite a few times with a youth project at my school. (one of the times we spent 3 days walking around the peak district and it's the most wonderful place to see if you love the nature) None of the others seemed to really enjoy which is a shame. Thanks for the link:) Kudos! ~Joey

10. susaneverson (4802) | 1 year ago | Jeff and I love to go hiking and just recently found a book of all the trials in our city. There is a lot more than either of us realized. We go walking all year but I like it best in the fall. Thank you for this information. It will come in handy when we travel. Susan
