What sort of wild animals have you seen whilst travelling?

I have been on safari in Kenya and seen rhinos, zebras, elephants, hippos, lions and a leopard. In Australia I saw kangaroos, koalas, penguins seals, dolphins, whales and crocodiles. I also saw many colourful birds. When I have done some snorkelling I have seen manta rays, sting rays, turtles and small sharks. What sort of wild animals have you seen whilst travelling? Where was this?

Im in Australia and I have only seen our wildlife, we get kookaburra, kangaroo, koalas and possums in our backyard. I have seen lizards, snakes, wild pigs and dingoes. Probably many more but we see them all the time so we dont really take that much notice.

When I stayed in Airlie beach some possums visited us every evening, how sweet! You are so lucky to see koalas, the only wild ones I have seen were on Magnetic Island. I love hearing the sound of the kookaburra. Are the snakes you get dangerous? Thanks for your response.

Yes, the snakes are dangerous. theres the Brown Snae which actually goes out of it way to get you or chase you, they are nasty and the Red Belly Black Snake they are venomous but they actually keep the Browns away.

The brown snake sounds scary. When I was walking on Great Keppel Island a snake came towards us. We rushed away from it, quite scared. One friend was house sitting in Sydney and the people had a swimming pool. I think it was the funnel web or red back spider around the edges of it. So we didn't really want to go for a swim.

In the wild I have seen kangaroos, elks, deer, bambis, foxes, squirrels, mice and snakes + birds and bugs. The only really cool ones were the kangaroos I saw from the train between Melbourne and Canberra

What I thought was really strange was that noone else on the train even bothered to look out when I yelled: kangaroos! Around here the only animals that would not make us look would be sheep. maybe they see kangaroos almst every day

I was visiting a friend and I told her I would like to see kangaroos. She took me to the edge of the local golf course. I saw lots of them there. I also saw many friendly ones on Kangaroo Island in south Australia. Thanks for your response.

Years ago, when I went to Thailand, I saw lots of crocodiles. When I went to visit the Ocean Park in Hong Kong, I saw the big sharks, dolphins and pandas etc. But I have never had a chance to see the live penguins yet as they are one of my favourites animals.

i live in south africa and when you travel just a short bit like 15 minutes from any city, you get to see something. this past saturday we went for a drive north of pretoria, sa capital, and we saw baboons on the freeway. we also saw zebras, all sorts of buck and strange birds. but those we saw on farms next to the road. i would love to see all kinds of the wild on the different continents.

I have been to the zoo in Beijing and Tianjin. I haven't seen wild animals besides the zoo. The animals I saw when I traveled was the carabaos, birds and some insects.

wow - you've seen a lot! unfortunately most of these animals I've only seen on documentaries. Guess most of my travels have been marked by nice natural scenery less than wildlife. I do hope to go for a safari someday though. I've seen a seal at a gorge in new zealand. that sounds kinda sad huh? but there were no dolphins out that day. I'd also like to go whale watching some day.

Yes, looking for wild animals can be unpredictable. Dolphins are lovely to watch when they do come along. Whale watching is the most challenging. I went on a boat off the Californian coast. We spent ages trying to find them, then they appeared at the last moment. We extended the time and it was amazing. They are so huge and difficult to photograph. Thanks for your response.
