need some help with a dvd burner | | I have a Sony DVD burner for my computer that is not working properly. It still burns CD's and DVD's and reads CD's but it won't read burnt DVD's. It will occasionally read commercially produced DVD's. When I try to burn a DVD it comes up with a ton of read errors on the verification but when I play in my DVD player, such as a movie, or in a seperate computers DVD player it works just fine. Thanks

goodluck.. hope it helps..

I have this problem even if I am doing my own home movies to a DVD or data to a DVD but not when I copy it to a CD. Might just be the burner goin bad but I have not even had it a year. Thought I would try to get a second opinion. You are right though, DVD Shrink is a good piece of software but you ought to try 1Click DVD, it shrinks and burns in one process. Thanks for your post.

santuccie (1940) | 3 years ago | 1Click is the software I use, but you know it only controls the content you choose to copy, don't you? You still need separate software to decrypt the original. I use DVD43 for that. There's also DVDFab Decrypter. It's free, it's self-contained, and unlike DVD Shrink, it's still in development.;)
Did you say you're also getting read errors when you copy homemade movies? If that's the case, you should try a drive cleaner. If it still has read errors during the verification process, then the lens is probably out of whack.

volcanoman (105) | 3 years ago | Thanks for the post and the cleaning suggestion, I will give it a try. I also know what you mean about the decryptor and yes DVD43 is good or Any DVD plus there are a ton of freeware and shareware options if you go to Cnet.
