I came across an old photo of my Great-Aunt Bessie, My Greatgrandmother Rose, my Grandmother Lizzie, and my Great-Uncle Parley. They have all long since passed. Aunt Bessie left us a little over a year ago. Photos freeze a time and a place. Captures those we love forever in time.

Old photographs evoke fond memories of our younger days. They remind us of the days gone by where we had great fun as children, or great relationships we had with people who were close to us then. Seeing them also makes me feel rather amused, especially when the fashion and hairstyles seem so queer, and we look rather old-fashioned compared to today. I have a high-end scanner at home where I can directly scan old negatives at high resolution into positives. I use this to scan the yellow faded negatives, then retouch the scanned images to restore their colour, and store the restored photographs in my PC. In this way, I can preserve all my old photographs for many more years to come. Otherwise the negatives will just be left around in some obscure place and forgotten, and all the great memories of the past will be forever lost with time.

Great gadget to have. It would be something that I could put to good use.

Thanks for the vote. Think about getting a printer/scanner with film scanning capability if you really value preserving your old photos, as well as old negatives for which you have not printed the photos before. It is really worth it. Mine is an EPSON Stylus Photo RX510. It cost me S$320 or around USD213 only.

I love looking at old photos. Even when I dont know the people in them. I love to see the faces and expressions as well as the clothes. I love the look of old clothes. They were so feminine for the ladies and masculine for the guys. I love any old photo

My mother has a bunch of old photos that she needs to hand over so I can scan them and keep them on a disc. I know that many of the faces have no names. But, yes it is fun to look at them.

I have several photo albums that have pictures going way back so that I can look back into my past and remember all the nice people I met and all the good times that I have had. It is great to look back and see how we have changed physically as well as the people around us and the things that we have done over the years. I keep most of pictures now on cds or on the computer.

I have just started to go through my old photo albums and found many of the photos beginning to fade. My goal is to get them scanned into the computer by the end of the year and copy them to a cd.

Since I just lost all my photos from the time I was quite young to recent, in a fire that claimed everything. Only pictures I have left are the few that I shared online. So be sure to have your favorites in a protected place so that you don't end up like me. I have lost many and can only hope my mother in her eighties can find some to replace the ones I lost. My Indian grandmother is one I wish to have for sure. Some of when I was little and some of my kids. Of course of my parents and any grandparents that my mom has would be grand to have for a collection once again. I will scan them this time and have them onine where I can get to them from anywhere if it would ever happen again.

I too love looking at old photos. I especially enjoy REALLY old photos like those of my parents when they were young, my greatgrandparents and such. I can get caught up in these and have my mind wander for hours. I also love getting out my children's old photographs and remembering what they were like as babies and reliving those birthday parties and all!

that's why i love scrapbooking. I guess photos don't just capture those who have since passed on, but also for those living it captures a moment in the past. After all, a famous quote in scrapbooking says 'it isn't the minutes that make up life, it's the moments'. And looking at photos of us in the past really brings back memories of how things were then, and how we were then.

My ex took all of our photos so when I get the chance to look at pics at a friends or family member's house I love it. I will eventually take them all and get reprints but for now I just don't have the ability. But I agree, pulling out the albums is a great way to remember. Luckily I still have the VHS tapes of the kids growing up. I love those.

I love my famiy's old photos and scrapbooks. My father's family history is like a travel through time in New Orleans from the 1850's well into the 20th century while my mother was a Southern Belle and often compares her life to that of "Scout" from Harper Lee's classic, "To Kill a Mockingbird." My dad's family has quite an extensive collection of old photos, letters, newspaper clippings, and scrapbooks among other memorabilia. I find myself looking at it all the time! I am very into geneology, so I love glimpses into the lives of my other relatives, particular the older ones who I was never alive to know.

I collect pictures starting when I was still a baby until now that I already have my own kids. Yes, it has the same effects on me,too. Pictures captures those moments you want to remember for the rest of your life. It gives you an idea and serves as a reminder of the life you used to have.
