| | I don't consider him the absolute greatest, but I can't think of anyone who changed the face of guitar playing as much as he did. | | | | | | |

| | Anyway, how do you consider anyone to be the greatest player ever? I beleive that the greatest guitar players do have their own style and are the best in what they do. | | | |

| | well maybe you take it to heart too much... magazines want to sell subscriptions$$$$$$$$$$ as far as fans, i know people who aren't too crazy about his music and his guitar work. other guitar heroes will never really put each other down,it's not really what they do...music choices and tastes are many, and artists enjoy a wide variety of these for their own education and enjoyment. there was some fear of jimi,by other artists when he was permitted to play on stage with "eric clapton" and "cream"'in england ,because his new style of being loud and using other sounds and technics kind of caught the others off guard.i do know he had longer fingers and a longer thumb than a lot of the other great players of that time..he was able to hit and pull notes that they couldn't. unfortunatly jimi and his fans got short changed when he died prematurely. who knows if he would have continued to climb the charts, you cannot project such things. for me,he was incredible and so were the others and it was a great time to be alive to enjoy what was going on,(the resistance)it was so much more than young artists growing up,it was a bad time in america, with a crooked president and a real bad establishment and the generation who caused as much mayhem as they could to upset this corrupt system and to expose these losers for who they really were. and todays' society has a lot of the overtones of those days. but unfortunatly, the artists out here today, at least the ones reaching the top 10 are nothing but corporate puppets who are more interested in their bread and butter, rather making sure america gets the real truth. just ask pete seeger and woody gutherie, well woody is not here anymore, but his music makes it like he never left and his words are still speaking the truth about corporate america and big government today. good luck and if like jimi's music that's all that counts. enjoy i still can't enough of;"like a rolling stone" that jmi did live at monterey pop in 1967...for me it just gits me. | | | | | | |

| | Jimi came up with a style of guitar playing that was unheard of at the time. Plus he was a master of inventing riffs. The history of music would have been sadly altered if it hadn't been for Jimi Hendrix. | | | |

| | All those artist listed are the greatest in their own rights. But Jimi was different. He had no formal musical training and couldn't even read music. He felt the music as he described in colors. He was uniquely his own, and that is what made him the greates. Most of the guys you listed followed a form of music already created. But Jimi broke ground, and he kept the music personal. | | | | | | |

| | I think there are not so many things but 2 or 3 are enough for this guitarist. In my oppinion almost everything is talent. It's true that in almost every magazines he appears inside like the best guitarist ever.I think it's really! Many people think that if you are fast player you are good one. It's not true.Because Jimi plays with all of his soul and almost always plays songs in different way,he is nominated as number 1. | | | | | | |
