Does the Declaration Of Independence Have a Hidden Massage On The Back?

Have you viewed the movie National Treasure? I watched the movie and I just loved it. It was exciting but I had never heard of any message being on the back of The Declaration of Independence. The movie made me interested enough about the message hidden on the back of the Declaration of Independence that as soon as the movie was over, I went to the internet to find answers to my questions. I have a natural hunger for knowledge.
In just a few short minutes, I had found my answer. According to the National Archives, "While no one knows for certain who wrote it, it is known that early in its life, the large parchment document was rolled up for storage. So, it is likely that the notation was added simply as a label." So There are no hidden messages after all. On the back, at the bottom, upside-down is simply written: "Original Declaration of Independence / dated 4th July 1776." So the question has been answered.
I still enjoyed the movie and have viewed it several times since my initial viewing. I just view it with new found knowledge now.
Have you ever watched a movie and wondered if the some of the things in it is true?
Did you wonder about this hiden message on the back of The Declaration of Independence?

Any movie generally does it research. I have never given any video credence since there is artistic license and is offered as entertainment. We have seen the National Treasure and did not look for true items just enjoyed it as much as we could for the entertainment value.
I am amazed that the original document is still around and am not sure that many have the clearance to even look let along handle it.

I thought that the movie National Treasure was very well done. It did suck you in and make you believe of the possibility of a hidden message on the back of the Declaration of Independence. It just goes to show you that movies can sway your beliefs. Sad that there are some people who would believe them to be factual movies.

i also enjoyed that disney film National Treasure. i even bought a DVD copy so i can watch it when ever i can. i am not an american but while watching it it caught my mind that maybe it can happen. there are a lot of treasures all over the world and some of them are still hidden. the movie came so real that you can really feel it actually happened.

I like that movie but I never even thought that there was writing on the document. I am glad that you enjoy finding out information. I am the same way. My husband always says I look up too many things, lol! Even though he does it too. We both love to do research on things that we don't know a lot about. Thanks for sharing this and have a great day.

I loved the movie! I can't remember the name of the actor (old woman memory lapse moment), but I have been in love with him ever since Peggy Sue Got Married!~ Donna

The story from that movie was well told, they did made good connections from one clue to the other. I can't stop from thinking what would be their next move also, I believe that "National Treasure" will also have a sequel coming up.
One movie that got me so much into deep-thinking was, "Butterfly Effects." I kinda liked the theme of that movie which stars, Ashton Kutcher and Amy Smart. A typical love story, but with a twist of time travelling.

I too saw this movie- and loved it. I didn’t put much thought into the hidden message- I hadn’t heard anything prior or when the movie came out to make me think it was real-
I do sometimes think about other movies- and say things like- OMG- is that true.. or could that happen… or no way it would happen like that- my sig. other or my daughter are quick to remind me “It’s only a movie”… lol

I am like you village, if a movie is supposedly 'based on a real life situation' I will try to find the situation on the internet or books! A few years back I watched a movie that was about a coach of a ballteam in South Carolina...(can't remember the name of the movie) it was based on a true story. Indeed, after some research, I found information about that particular coach and the teams he coached! There is movie that was out fairly recently called 'Pride' that was supposedly based on a true story. It is about a man who can't find a teaching job and ends up coaching an inner city swim team that he starts at a YMCA that is slated to be shut down. I will likely research that story online too! Many have told me that the movie is awesome. We plan to rent it soon.

I think this film is great and well told. Of course, they say the original Declaration does not have a message but have they tried (what was it?) lemon juice or something. Perhaps they should try ultr violet light.
I was quite annoyed after watching the film Fargo as it starts by saying it is based on true events but is really stupid. It is not real at all and they were using artistic licence. I think that is not fair on the viewer!!!
