Food Tasting..., why only allowed after the package is signed? | | | | We have all seen various wedding banquet packages... and all of them come with a food tasting session where you get to eat one round of the banquet that you are gonna host. ever wondered why the food tasting is only given AFTER the package is signed?I was sitting down in my study room, looking at the quotes of the various packages with my wife, when it hit me... Shouldn't food tasting be BEFORE the signing of the package? This is so that we can ascertain that the food is good before we commit to the menu... that is the whole purpose of the food tasting session, isn't it? I mean, looking at the fanciful names of the dishes, one is expected to know what they look or taste like? blink.gif Doesn't make logical sense, does it?But all the banquet packages available here are all giving food tasting session only AFTER you confirm the banquet package with them. That means... whether you like the food they offer or not, you have a done deal... you HAVE to accept the menu. How come there is no restaurant/hotel that offer the food tasting at a price, that could be offset later should you decide to sign the package with them? That would make the whole experience a lot more fun when searching for the perfect wedding package, doesn't it? | | Banquet | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |

| | Yeah, what would be the purpose of tasting it if you already promised you would go with that company? That makes no sense to me. | | | | | | | ahgong (3967)

| | The best part of it is, no one is making a complain about it so far. Other than myself, I am sure that the many couples who signed before me had asked the same question. No one from the un-married couple group is willing to come together to petition for a better way to get the food tasting done? | | | | | | | Become a Wedding Planner Learn how to coordinate and plan ceremonies and receptions. www.PennFoster.edu | add comment | | | |

| | firstly, congrats on hitting 500 posts! yup, your suggestion for the tasting at a refundable price is good. however, in our little island, unfortunately this is another case of terbarlek, cart before the horse. the idea from the hotel's perspective, is that you've already signed them based on friends' and family's (if not your own) experience with their food quality and service. So when you decide to sign up, and all the perks have been negotiated, you have basically agreed on the whole deal, not just because of the food. So when they give u food tasting, this is only meant for minor tweaks - e.g. more sauce for this, less salt for that... it also doesn't make sense sometimes cos if you are so dissatisfied that you want to change one dish, there's no idea that the other dish is better. unless you come again, and surely they will make you pay to try that dish. which venues have you shortlisted? can PM me - I still enjoy discussing weddings! :) | | | | | | | ahgong (3967)

| | of course, they dont want lose money.try to imagine,if 100 peoples take a try on food, how much money the owner might lost monthly?or maybe someone else just want to take change to disturb, critic about the banquet restaurent?they just take a step to protect their buisness. | | | | | | | ahgong (3967)

| | it is not like I am not willing to pay for the cost of the banquet or anything like that... cos when you sign the package... you either get a discount or you get the food tasting free, depending on your package. If you want to taste it before the package signing, one does mind having to bear the full cost! That is why I find it funny... Food Tasting IS to ascertain whether we want to sign the package or not. but here, in singapore, the practice is to sign the package first, then go for the food tasting... which defeats the purpose of the food tasting anyways... rite? it is not like we get to taste everything from ALL the menu offered... so what is the point of the food tasting then? Like it or not, you signed the packaged liow, so gotta accept it even if it is not so good rite? Just find it amusing that no one noticed it or voiced it out before. heh heh heh... just me sharing my tots | | | | smoke_gun (868)

| | same here as malaysia's restaurent, sign up the package first, then taste the food.its ponitless for customer, but this the way for them to run buisness.the only thing maybe here is better than singapore,we can change the package menu . | | | | ahgong (3967)

| | It is the same here as well. As long as the couple is willing to pay for the difference in the pricing, and there is ample time, they can change the menu to their fancy. The only thing is, they can only upgrade their package. No down grading of package is allowed. Guess it is a common practice is a lot of countries. | | | | | | | New: Banquet up to -57% Find top Banquet at bargain prices: Compare offers and save up to 57%! www.Banquet.news72.com | add comment | | | |
