Will we FINALLY get a female President?  |

 I find it almost amusing the way the right-wing picks incessantly on Hillary Clinton. The poor woman can't do anything right! If she looks really nice and like she spent a bit of time on her appearance, that's female vanity, if she's not made-up or her hair's not done, she's a slob and an anti-male feminist. If she speaks as a mother-which she is and as such will ALWAYS be a mother-she's too "soft" to be commander-in-chief. But heaven forbid if she talks tough!
If her husband campaigns with her she's either "using" him or she's making a mistake because he steals the spotlight from her. If she campaigns without him she's not using her bigest asset! Tell me, are we ready for a woman in general or this woman in particular? Will she get the chance I believe she deserves or will she be another Clinton to be victimized by the "right-wing conspiracy"? And if SHE can't win, who will be our next President?

Seriously, Hillary isn't my first choice so far for the primary, but I'm not sure who is to tell the truth. I do know I'll back any of the Democratic candidates over any of the jokers the GOP has put out there. But that's just me. I haven't read too much about Hillary's health care plan yet so I'm not sure of the details but I know we need some kind of reform and it's going to be hard to get any passed because the crooked insurance and pharmateutical companies aren't about to give up their multi-billion dollar profits and they're right in the pockets of too many politicians of both parties. Harry and Louise scared too many people to death back in 1993 but what they warned about is what most of us have now anyway and that's HMO's. Just without any affordability and portability and protection from being denied due to a pre-existing condition.

| 5. destinyisntfree (51) | 3 years ago |  I really wish we could get beyond the patriarchal society. Do I think that she is the "only" good candidate? I am not sure. I know a couple of things, though.
1. This country is not ready for a black president, and right now I believe that the south controls too much of the vote for that to be a real possibility. For those who don’t know, the other candidate on the democratic ticket is a black man.
2. I do not believe that this country will elect another republican right now, even if the republicans running are highly billed "players." For the republican party right now, we have Rudy Giuliani, from New York. My whole family is from New York, and my grandmother has very adamantly said that he is just not ready to run the country, and she doesn’t feel that he would make a good president. Just an FYI: My grandmother is very adamantly a republican.
The other candidate for the Republican party is another actor "that guy from Law and Order." No one seems to be able to remember his name, and that may well say something about his chances with the election.
Do I think this country is ready for a female president? I personally think it is long overdue, and I think Hillary would be able to do a good job. Do I think it is a definite that she will get elected? I am not sure yet. There are way too many closed-minded people in this country who will not allow anything to change. They think that everything should stay the same, even if it is not working.

Besides Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama other Democrats include 2004 Vice Presidential candidate John Edwards, Sen. Joe Biden, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, Sen. Chris Dodd, Rep. Dennis Kucinich and former Senator Gravel. The Republicans also have Sen. John McCain, Mitt Romney, Arkansas Governor Huckabee and there may be another one or two, several have already dropped out so I'm not sure now...lol. I do agree totally that there are many close-minded people in this country but I hope eventually they'll get past that. Thanks for your post!

Well you know me. While I am all for a woman president I do not like Hilary. I am also not about to vote for her just because she is a woman. I am all for sisterhood but I really do not like her politics.
As a mom myself I do not want my children brought up in "her" village. They are mine and I will raise them how I see fit (not as the government dictates).
True she is intelligent. But I do not trust her. Too much dirty dealing in her past.Plus I do not believe in socialism in any way, shape or form. Which she believes in too strongly. I am more of a constitutionalist with the government staying out of the decisions of my life and out of my pocket as much as possible.
Nothing personal against her. I just do not want what she is selling.
As for the next president? I am hoping for Ron Paul but I will settle for Rudy. Either would be a great improvement over what we have now.
Just my opinion.

Let people critize her the way they want because no matter how perfect you are human beings will never lack something to talk ill about you.
