...con't Package... how flexible is your package? In the event you cannot find your gown, can you MTM? How many photos do you get? Digital design? Hot press? Whole page? Album size? Any table top? Post cards? Small album? How much are the additional photo going to cost? How many pose to a page? How many pages in your album in the package? How many locations do you get to go for out door? If you are to do the indoor and outdoor on separate days, how much do you have to top up? How bout additional make up item like ampule? Eyelashes? For additional change of clothes during the shoot, any charges? If change to own casual clothes, does it count towards the no of sets of clothes for the shoot? what happens if it rains on the day you are suppose to go for your outdoor shoot? Is transport provided? How bout accessories? Ties, costume jewelery...etc... are they provided? during the shoot? during the AD? What is the payment mode like? So TIP 8... Always remember to get the coordinator to write down explicitly what is promised to you. Whether you can get more after you sign on the dot is another story. But what you negotiated for on the day you sign, must be written down explicitly. This is because the person selling you the package may not necessarily be the one who will be coordinating your wedding needs. It has happened before, where the coordinator will not do anymore than what is written in the contract cos she is not aware of the extras promised to you by the sales person. So beware! So TIP 9... Do not be pressured into signing the contract. If they can offer you the perks today, they can do it again tomorrow or next week or next month for that matter. They are always trying to hardsell you their packages. In singapore, there are 365 days of sale, so there is no worry about not getting a good deal. Listen to what they have to day, jot it down as mentioned in my earlier post. Then go back and further discuss with your spouse. Once you more or less have an idea of what you want from which BS, then go down and do fresh negotiations. If you cannot get what you want, then go to the next one on your short list. REMEMBER, the money is still in your pocket. You are still the boss... so dun be signing on the dot cos you feel that you are going to lose a deal. Deals are always made at BS. Your package is never the same as the other couple before or after you. Is it up to your bargaining skills that makes the difference what you get in your package.

wow - sounds like you went to recee some on your own! Did you two split up to cover more ground? for me, my hubs is quite suey bian, so i went for first meeting for some i shortlisted. actually ended up only went into 2 or 3 and then decided, because so pleased with the service of Divine C. From start to finish, my designer was my contact point. no sales person, no coordinator. no hardsell. just the lady who could sketch me beautiful designs, show me fabric swatches and work with their team of tailors to produce the right fit and details. I didn't top up either for more crystals or more embriodery, cos she showed me exactly the level of embellishments that I could get without topping up and i was satisfied. some places show you a range of gorgeous gowns, then after you sign for the basic, everything that you like must top up. and the basic was actually only for really plain ones that some chinatown tailor can make. :P I'm sure you got a good bargain. For me, the package was standard, and the perks are dependent on whether you signed at their promotional runway show. that makes for a more level playing field, and cuts down the bargaining and angst. all the best in the run-up to your wedding. Get more rest and shine on that day! After all it's the marriage that counts, not the wedding (although for singaporean parents the wedding is super big a deal).

Thanks for the response! Yep, we went to recee at alot of places, including quite a few tahmans in JB. And all these research came in particularly useful when we did our selection for the shortlist. We were looking at gowns more for the selections as my wife as a liking for lots of details in her wedding dress. So with that in mind, her wants take priority then followed by the photography. I know what you mean. The sale person from the BS will show you a lot of very nice beads and laces for you to select from for the MTM. But when you actually go about asking for exact details like how much will be used on the gown itself, you are better off with some tailor from china town. So much cheaper for similar workmanship with more variety of cloths to choose from. Like yourself, we were very lucky to meet with the coordinator who is handling our package from the time we discuss the package to the time we sign all the way to the wedding itself. She was extremely patient with us, and that was a great plus point. Some of the other BS along Tanjong Pagar are not so interested in you once you voice that you want to consider their package before coming back. But the one we signed, still serve us with lots of courtesy and patience even when we did not sign on the spot, three times in a row. We were really impressed with the kind of service the staff of this BS showed to us. We eventually signed with them on the fourth visit! It makes a great difference when a coordinator is able to provide you with great service. Makes the whole experience of the wedding so much more pleasant. So much so, spending that few thousand dollars on the package with this BS makes it all the more worth it!
