Is it just me or has anyone else with ms had eye problems? |
|
I have had double vision now for almost a week. My left eye is turned towards the right. I am not telling my nerologist he will say there is nothing I can do. I might call my regular doctor. it seems like when it is hot wheater this happens to me more then any other time of the year. Last year I lost eye site in tmy left eye for a month. Sometimes you just have to laugh about it all to keep it from getting the best of you:)

1. freebc (1501) | 1 year ago | Eye problems are common with this. I have had it so that I couldn't hold my eyes steady. They kind of flickered to someone looking in. To me? It was like the old TV's where the horizontal hold wasn't working and the picture was rolling fairly quickly. I could see sort of but couldn't make out detail. It was so bad that I had to lay down and close my eyes to stop from seeing anything. Then I had a spell where I had double vision. I could see fine except I was seeing two of everything. Then something went sideways and the optic nerve in my right eye atrophied. Now my right eye is bad blurry like someone with a cataract, but it's not that. The opthamologist figures it's something congenital and that this would have got to me sooner or later anyway. Did MS advance it? Maybe. But she's not sure it was. She just thinks it was coincidence that it happened now. So now my left eye is still dominant as it always was. But now I can't fall back on the right if anything gimps up again. Oh well...

Shaun72 (11293) | 1 year ago | It's a really big mess having ms that's for sure.I started out having double vision and numbness back in 1998. I just inored it untill my double vision came back. I have had it last over a year before. I proberly should cover my left eye with a patch while I am at home.

freebc (1501) | 1 year ago | If you are going to cover an eye, rotate the covering back and forth between your two eyes lest one of them become lazy. Don't want to go giving the demon MS an opportunity beyond the junk you are enjoying right now. I am okay standing and sitting up. But if I lay on the floor I am some dizzy. And kneeling down is a trick too. I have a hard time getting up again and in fact, I can't unless I have something to support myself with. If everything would just stay as it is right now I'll be fine. But I don't look forward to further progression.

freebc (1501) | 1 year ago | If you have a silk scarf, you could tie your head so that it comes down over one eye. The silk doesn't heat up like cotton any polyester do. Might be different rolling it like a bandage though. I am really beginning to dislike heat. I feel about ready to crawl into the fridge...

Shaun72 (11293) | 1 year ago | Yeah I hope they come up with a crue myself. Like Mike I hear all the time about herbs that will help. I have tried I still have problems. Even this one woman that works with my mother claimed that some pills she gave me to try would cure ms. Well I hate to tell her I am still having problems.

5. hersmart4ever (4365) | 1 year ago | Have you been wearing eyeglasses. If this is the case maybe your eyes wear having problems or it might because your eyes wear tired. Over exposure on the computer or reading too much especially in the dark. You could laugh about it but take your eyes seriously.

7. liperoterachel (10204) | 1 year ago | I do not have this but it makes sence that it would effect your vision. You lost your eye site! That is not good, I think you should forget the might and call the doctor Asap!

liperoterachel (10204) | 1 year ago | Ok I did a little research and this is what I found Multiple Sclerosis Symptoms Multiple sclerosis (MS) can cause a wide range of symptomsmultiple sclerosis symptoms. Some problems occur often, and some are seldom seen. The course of illness is different for each person. Even when there are no symptoms, there is progression of damage to the central nervous system over time. That's why it is important to stay on your multiple sclerosis treatment. Common multiple sclerosis symptoms are: ********Optic neuritis This multiple sclerosis symptomsis an inflammation of the optic nerve, the nerve that controls the eye. Over a period of days, you may develop blurred vision. Sometimes you may feel pain behind your eye, which increases when you turn your eye. After initial symptoms, there is gradual improvement, sometimes after several weeks. But recovery is not always complete. During periods of stress, fatigue or fever, the blurred vision in the eye may return. This does not necessarily mean that the multiple sclerosis is active again. Rather, it may be the result of permanent disability that has accumulated over time. So it does have to do with you MS! Ok here is the link I found it at and there is a lot more information http://www.avonex.com/msa... Now you get your but on the phone and call your doctor:)! I mean now!

Shaun72 (11293) | 1 year ago | I have double vision which has happened before. I am trying to wait it out to see if it goes away. All the doctors will do is give me predizone and I hate taking them unless I go numb for awhile. Thanks for your advice though.

8. pointyblue (156) | 1 year ago | Are you being treated with interferone for your MS? Or Tysabri? I hate taking Predizone during an attack as well it makes me really sick. My neurologist has promised that when I'm next having an attack they'll give it to me in the blood in stead of as pills. She says there are less side effects that way. Don't know if you've tried talking to your neurologist about that but perhaps you should? I'm not sure it's such a good idea to cover your eyes too much. When the normal route of visual communication inside your brain is destroyed your neurological system has to learn a new one and that will not happen unless you force it. I hope your vision will get back to normal soon!

Shaun72 (11293) | 1 year ago | I am treated with a interferon or Rebif. I take it 3 times a week. I have had both the pills and in the blood or iv steriods. It's been awhile but I have done it both ways. When I first got diagnosed I was needing to go to the hospital from going numb alot to have iv steriods. It's just predozine is easier instead of spending a night or two at the hospitail.

9. sherrir101 (2911) | 1 year ago | I would tell my neurologist. You might need an IV treatment. I have had a bout with Optic Neuritis a couple of times and it isn't something that I would wish on anyone. Hot weather seems to bring on my eye problems, also. Were you ever treated with the IV Somedrual (spelling?) before, for this? I, pesonally would take an IV treatment over a spell with the Optic Neuritis.

|
Shaun72 (11293) | 1 year ago | He knows I went last week to a new nerologist he told me to wait to see if it clears. I have had IV Somedrual more times then I can remember really since I was diagnosed in 2002. If it doesn;t clear soon I will call back or call my primary care doctor to get a predizone pack.Optic Neurtic I had that last summer in my left eye that is the pits anyhow thanks for your concern and your reply.

10. barbaradjt (4139) | 1 year ago | I am not sure, but I did have a boyfriend in school with MS. I remember him telling me he was sensitive to light. HE ALWAYS wore sunglasses, even in the evening. I am not sure if he had any other problems with the eyes or not. I know that he did get migraine headaches and the sunglasses seemed to help with that.

Shaun72 (11293) | 1 year ago | I know if I am out in the sun I need shades and fast. Migranes I get one at least every 2 weeks.I will try sunshades inside if my eyes go crazy. My double vision is gone for now. Hopefully it will stay away from awhile. It's not as bad as losing eye sight or having blurred vision.
