There is a new scam starting up that has been reported to the Social Security Administration and we need to get the word out to anyone who is receiveing or knows someone who is receiving Social Security.
They are being called by someone who is telling them that they are from Social Security and if the person will let them into their home they will be able to increase their Social Security benfits.
Social Security rarely does a review at a person's home and if they did need to they send official correspondence through the mail.
There is no telling what would happen if someone let these scammers into their home. Right now, they do not know for sure if they would try to injure the person, steal from them, or just get personal information that they would later use for identity theft.
So, far the people who have reported them have either told the scammer "no" or that they would call Social Security to verify who they are and the scammer then hangs up.
It is such a shame that someone is targeting people on Social Security; so please beware, and pass this information on to other people.

It's amazing how some people try to make money off others. Its sickening that someone would try to hurt in anyway someone who was disabled or elderly because they want their social security information or money from them. Thanks for posting this. My mother is on social security because she is disabled by the government. I will tell her to watch out for such scammers. Thanks again.

You're welcome.
It is a shame that people like this are trying to take advantage of our more vulnerable citizens. That is why I posted this discussion; to make others aware of this new scam so they will not also be taken advantage of in this way.
