Where do you do your best writing?  

Not really a special place per se. I usually will just take my laptop and get comfortable somewhere to get started on my writing. I don't know, but it's really easy for me to get writing once I have gotten comfortable. Whether I am on the bed laying down with my laptop, or even at a local coffee shop or library getting some time in, it's more about getting to the focus of writing that where I do it. Some of my best writing comes when I might be somewhere that you might think isn't wasy to write at. For example, I do a lot of great writing on the train when I am on my way home. I actually type on my cell phone because of the QWERTY keyboard I have on it and then e-mail it to myself so that I can retrieve it when I get home to my laptop.

We're fortunate enough to have a couple of spare bedrooms in our house, one of which we turned into a home office. I do almost all of my writing in there but will hit the basement now ang again with my laptop and do some stuff there. Once I start writing everything else seems to get blocked out and I can usually whip out an AC article in about 10-15 minutes.

I have found strangely that writing while Thor plays video games is the msot conducive to getting a lot done. The video games will occassionally have a pretty seen to distract me from my computer screen and let my eyes rest, but are not likely to suck my attention away long term like a movie or show might.
I tend to write on my laptop, sitting on the pillow you made me on the futon, so my butt doesn't go numb from the futon bar :) But if I had the best option, it would be at my Computer Desk with the rolly chair...but that's in Nick's room, so that's not always an option...and I don;t want to write on his computer :)

A couple of birthdays ago my husband bought me a comfy leather desk chair for my "office" in the basement. So whether I write on the computer or by hand, I am comfortable sitting at my desk. I usually prefer to write by hand first. I feel the words flow better that way, and in doing that I can write just about anywhere.

I find that I don't have a certain place. I like being at the computer because I do a lot of research and quick dictionary, thesaurus, etc. searches. However, I think the computer is best for revising my work and organizing the quick thoughts that I originally composed.

My best writing comes at all different places. Being comfortable is one thing, but I also think that surrounding yourself with something is good too. Perhaps you can try different environments--just bring a notebook with you and sit down somewhere. On your porch, in a park, in a coffee shop, etc. You might be surprised what each places inspires you to do, and what it is about each place that does that. A scent, a sound, someone's shoes, an insect, someone's shoes stepping on an insect, anything! That's what seems to work well for me.

So, perhaps I do my best writing, or at least collect my best ideas outside of my apartment. Inside my apartment, I just want to rest most of the time. Outside, you're exposed to a lot more and I think that gives more ideas. Inside my apartment is better for organizing without distractions, but the original ideas usually come better away from home. However, books or magazines I read at home can help too...so it's hard to say.

I like to write when I'm outside because it makes me feel inspired. I also like to write at night in bed before I go to sleep because I feel really relaxed. Sometimes I'll just write by hand and then put in on the computer later.

I do my best writing with a legal pad, and a gel blue ink pen in my office, scarywhitegirl. Unfortunately, I have not had an office in six years, and I have not done any writing in that time. I am in the process of acquiring an office in the next few months, and I hope to write.

I dont do my writing on the computer anymore...I much prefer to handwrite actually...As for a special place....well my room is a perfect place but sometimes I sit outside on the porch or at the patio table when the weather is nice and occasionally I'll just kick back on the sofa...

It used to be on the computer, but I find lately that I'm doing more writing with pen and paper. Which unfortunately limits the time that I can spend writing, but at least I'm writing more now.
