Can they really talk or do they just whistle? | | We've had our cocaktiels since father's day. They're still babies. The male whistles a lot. He does the cat call whistle. I was wondering if they can really be taught to talk or not? How long does it take? Do you have any tips for teaching them to talk? I'd love ours to talk.

Calais (6369) | 1 year ago | Yes, most definantly they can...You have to just be patient..And repeat repeat repeat,. they will start to copy you, also when you are not home leave a radio on so they hear voices and words. The secret is to have them alone so their undivided attention is on you, also no mirrors in the cage...You said cockateils, so I presume just two...They will talk but not over the top as they will be more inclined to socialised with each other.
