Mailbox For Garden Tools Where are all your garden tools? I mean the small ones and your gloves? Do you have trouble keeping up with them or are they in the garage far from where you need them. A great way to keep Small Garden Tools Handy or even the extra spray nozzles for the outdoor water hose is in an old mail box. Just place the mail box on a post in a convenient spot in your yard and place the small tools that you use regularly in it. Many mailboxes will even have a hole for inserting a small padlock or you can just drill your own hole. Paint the mail box and it can be very attractive. They look great with flowers or birds painted on them and the background in a summer color. You will never wonder where you things are again. You will use them more often as they will be closer to where you need them. Always handy.

Village, this is by far the best idea that I have read in a long time! I love the idea of a mailbox right by the flower garden! I'm sure we have an old mailbox, and if not, I will see one at a garage sale before the year is over! Ha! Poor hubby just takes my gloves and trimmers to the garage snd wherever he finds a spot he lays them. I am far too organized for that and we quarrel about lost items routinely! This way, I will know where my items are and we won't quarrel! You know, you might have just saved a marriage! Please don't bill me!!! Ha!

We have one by our outdoor water hose to keep gloves and extra spraying nozzles in. It is amazing how good it looks and it eliminated the need to search for those nozzles when we needed them.

I really like this suggestion. I need to look in the shed and see what is there. Unfortunately I know there will not be a large mail box. Some little ones, suburban style, the ones you hang by the front door, but a series of them may work. I have a hanging three tiered basket, a wire one, that costs about $1 at the dollar store. I have spray insect repellent and gardening/work gloves stashed in those baskets.Every time hubby cannot find work gloves, I have a pair right there. I can't wait for tomorrow, to see what I have saved.

That was at midnight, last night, and today has some other obligations. I will have to do it on a rather free day. Today I was exchanging tree seedlings with a co worker.

I had heard of this before. I think it is wonderful idea. I was also thinking of using it for our bbq items like tongs, spatula, lighters, etc. Thanks for the idea. Have a great day.

I did this when I had my property. We had a problem with the kids coming along and the plow drivers mangling the mailboxes on the road. We kept ours up as long as we could and then have to replace it. We took it and put it out in the garden and keep tools, gloves and tomates nylon ties etc there. It was good to use and kept things handy. The wild Morning Glories were allowed to trail up over it and it was grand. Thanks for sharing and I vouch that it is a very good thing to do.

Yesterday, I was at home depot, and they had a buggy full of the cutest garden gloves! Some of them had lady bugs, others butterflies, roses, even a pair with snails. The best part was that they were marked down to 50 cents a pair! I picked up about 18 pairs of them, and will use them for baskets to our elderly church members and then I'll probably keep a couple of pairs for us to use around the house.

Hi again Villageanne! You are a wonder! A font of great ideas! I love this idea, I could nestle one in with my rose bushes and it would be great. Have you thought of writing a book of tips? You should. I would buy it!

Oh my- what a great idea- Although I’m not sure if I’d want an extra mailbox in my yard- but if you decorate it pretty it might be ok- Right now our little tools and gloves are in a box on the inside of the shed out back- where all the rakes and stuff are- Lots of gardening gloves, ties for the tomatoes, and the small tools. It works well for us- as long as we remember to put the things back in there-

That is a great idea! I have all of my yard tools and gloves in a small carrying basket (plastic) that sits on a certain shelf in the extra room off of our garage. It is not quite as neat as your idea but it is practical and it does work!
