Every Day A New Political Scandal

While surfing through the news today I came across several brewing political scandals. I guess this is the norm in politics today. I feel that our political system is in dire need of an overhaul. These people are taking money earmarked for education and other human services and putting it into their own pockets. It's sickening, and it needs to stop. When these public figures are found guilty of such crimes they should be subjected to much stiffer penalties than they are now receiving. Of course things won't get any better if they continue to just receive a slap on the wrist.

I wish we wold just focus on the one's who are pocketing public money and making favorable decisions to benefit their bank accounts and friends. I don't think we should concern ouselves so much with things like Bill Clinton's love life and John Edwards $400 haircut. Those things don't matter that much to me. Expecting politicians to be moral leaders is like expecting religious guidance from sports figres and movie stars BUT we do have a right to expect accountability in their political life.

Strange how the politicians create laws and penalties for the rest of us peons while they just go about their merry business of thievery and dishonesty with hardly more than a slap on the wrist if they are caught. Sure it needs to stop but it won't. The politicians have nothing to loose because when was the last time you heard of one spending actual years in prison? They act like Gods and take full advantage of the system without regard for those who elected them and without remorse. Sad situation and I refuse to worry about it because as we have seen over time it doesn't change. Sure I can vote someone new into office but what gaurantee do you have that the next bum isn't a worse crook than the last? So what good is freedom of choice when all the choices are rotten?
