What's the one thing that you fear so much when you were a child? |
My greatest fear when I was a child was a zombie. You know when you were a small child. Your imagination goes wild! Whenever it's Halloween, and I hear Michael Jackson's "Thriller", I really get tense and scared. I even had a plan on how to hide myself if zombies do appear out of nowhere!!!I even had nightmares about zombies. That's how scared I was of them. And when Halloween comes, the tv channels usually features zombie movies. Oh My!

jcj_111776 (1251) | 3 years ago | When I was a kid, my parents didn't scare me with the boogeyman or whatever monster will come out under my bed, if I don't go to bed early.

jcj_111776 (1251) | 3 years ago | I remember when I was still a kid, and I saw the "Thriller" video. I was so scared with the part where the girl was cornered in an abandoned house. And when she looked at Michael, he's a zombie too. I was afraid of the dark too. My imaginations went wild when it went dark.

3. shrutisingh (163) | 3 years ago | my greatest fear as a child was looking into the mirror and seeing a gost standing beside me.i saw such a concept in so many movies that it stayed with me wheever i saw it ..i still fear it sometimes.

jcj_111776 (1251) | 3 years ago | I get that sometimes, you know. Maybe when I'm too stressed out and my imagination starts running wild. Sometimes when I need to go to the bathroom at the middle of the night, I sometimes can't help but think that I might see "something" in the bathroom mirror.

4. EZhang (134) | 3 years ago | Anything bloody, gory and scary. I did watch a couple of episodes, but that one particular episode that stuck in my mind is about "Bloody Mary". It wasn't done very tastefully, in a sense that Bloody Mary's face isn't supposed to be pale like Sadako from "The Ring". It should actually be full of welts or scars. The part about chanting "Bloody Mary" in front of the mirror 13 times on a full moon part is correct though.

jcj_111776 (1251) | 3 years ago | I think I saw that movie, too. It was kind of pretty scary but not that hand-gripping on the seat scary.
| |
EZhang (134) | 3 years ago | True. Basically, I was waiting to be scared until I peed in my pants, but I ended up feeling a bit "cheated"...

5. sweetcakes (2711) | 3 years ago | "I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."

I just want to add some more to your response.
" Never fear shadows; they simply mean there's a light shining somewhere."

6. eprado (1313) | 3 years ago | Hello jcj_111776, I know how that feels for when I was a small child I am scared of the dark. Ghost, zombies, anything that's in a horror movie I was scared of then. I have trouble going to our room to sleep at night because I was scared. I'd have to sleep with somebody for I am afraid to be left alone and the lights must be left on . If I watched a horror movie then I could not sleep the whole night and would wait for the sun to rise, lying there whole time under the bed covers.
That's how scared I was when I was a young kid. I'm glad I overcame it when I grew up. Now I am used to the dark, horror movies, etc.. and won't scare of easily.:-)

jcj_111776 (1251) | 3 years ago | Hi eprado.^_^ I was just like you, too when I was a kid. As what my mother used to tell me, I was making my own ghost! Because I can't stop myself from watching horror and scary movies, but at the end, I suffer from it. Like you, I was unable to sleep. And I was so afraid of every little bumps and noise during the night. Thank goodness, we have finally outgrown that.- smiles-

jcj_111776 (1251) | 3 years ago | I'm fond of watching zombie lately. By doing this, my wild imagination about them becoming real, lessens. I just keep thinking they are just good actors wearing good make-up and ugly prosthetics.

8. wolfie34 (13857) | 3 years ago | My greatest fear as a child was thunder storms! I was scared stiff of them, both the lightning and the thunder itself, I used to run into my mums room with a blanket, pillow and my bear and lie on the floor beside her! Dad used to tell me to get back to bed! But sometimes I got away with it and he didn't hear me come in! I hated it and I used to make my dad promise me it wouldn't thunder if I had to go to bed early! The things you believe as a child! Thankfully I grew out of it, however even now it still makes me jump! It's called brontophobia apparently I found out years ago.

jcj_111776 (1251) | 3 years ago | hi wolfie. Now that I'm an adult, I'm still a little scared of lightning and loud, rumbling thunder. My sister was genuinely surprised when she saw my reaction to these things. She said her 7 year old daughter was braver than me!lol!

9. balasri (9301) | 2 years ago | I was very scared and spooked about the cemeteries and tombstones when I was a kid. There were the deaths of my grand ma and grand pa to which I was a witness to the funeral to the graveyard.Plus the ghost stories my family members used to tell around the fire in the cold rainy nights in the hill country is still very chilly to recall.
| |
| |
jcj_111776 (1251) | 2 years ago | speaking of cemeteries, I remember when I was a child, I steadily refused to go to my aunt's house. Because she lived near the cemetery. And being a kid, my mind was running wild with my imaginations of seeing zombies and ghosts.

balasri (9301) | 2 years ago | Strange how the kids all over the world have the same experience.Nice knowing these kind of things form a friend from distant land.Your discussions and responses are always simple and interesting.
| |
jcj_111776 (1251) | 2 years ago | thank you, bala. I guess, for some kids, their fear of cemeteries have something to do with the ghost stories they hear and zombie movies they watch. I know, because I've been there.:) I remember, my friends and I will sit down and take turns telling ghost stories. There was a particular one when I was still in grade school. There was a rumor that a school janitor saw a headless man, walking aimlessly inside a dimly lit classroom. And not only that. There was also a rumor that the sound of chains being dragged across the floor was also heard.
Now, I'm getting goosebumps!

balasri (9301) | 2 years ago | I am floored. You know my favorites are horror movies and ghost stores. We are coming very close.
| |
jcj_111776 (1251) | 2 years ago | Same here. I much prefer the zombie movies. But I don't like the amateur zombie movies where there is too much blood and gore. There are zombie films that emphasizes more on the suspense, rather than showing too much bloodshed.

balasri (9301) | 2 years ago | Like Hannibal rising?
| |
jcj_111776 (1251) | 2 years ago | Hannibal wasn't a zombie, but he sure did like human flesh!Ugh! Anyway, I liked that movie so much that I had to see it more than once. It was kind of saddening though that he lost the love of his life. It was kind of disturbing to know that he ate his little sister.:o

balasri (9301) | 2 years ago | It is a very intense movie. My all time best is the horror of dracula.I got spooked like anything when I saw it ling time back as a child.I got the real taste of the horror then.
| |
jcj_111776 (1251) | 2 years ago | Speaking of dracula, I saw the movie, "Dracula 2000" with a friend. Now, the actor who portrayed the role as Dracula, was very handsome and as what my friend said, was oozing with so much appeal. I still can't forget what she said about him. She said if that's the kind of Dracula who will bite her, then she won't hesitate giving him her neck! lol!

jcj_111776 (1251) | 2 years ago | haha! The added scream effect does make the ghost story more suspenseful. Sometimes, when I hear someone telling ghost stories, I still get goosebumps.
