Harry Potter? I never read Harry Potter... Am I missing something? |
|
I know who's Harry Potter, I watch one or two movies of Harry Potter, but I never read the tomes. Am I missing something? Should I read Harry Potter?

1. breepeace (2278) | 3 years ago | *LOL* Honestly I've never read Harry Potter either, and I don't really think I'm missing anything. I've heard people's descriptions of the books and I just think there are still thousands of books that do intrigue me and that I do want to read, so Harry Potter can wait until I'm bored out of my mind and need something to occupy my time.
I'm sure fans would all tell you that you're missing something, but it's your own personal choice. Did you like the movies? Were you intrigued enough to want to know more?
I had a friend years ago tell me that I was missing out by not reading this one series by Anne Rice, and after I read the first book, couldn't understand what all the fuss was about, so I rarely go off the advice of fans of the literature, I'd go off the advice of fans of the literature I usually read -- if they liked it, maybe I will, too, since we obviously already share like tastes.

2. kuting (819) | 3 years ago | i haven't read any harry potter books yet either.. though i seen all the films, I'm planning to read the books though maybe not anytime soon. they're very pricey and i don't think its practical to buy them. maybe if someone would loan me the books yes, I'm going to read it. then maybe i would be missing something too, I've heard some who've read the books that the films didn't do any justice to the novels. I'm interested in knowing that.

I had a substitute teacher when I was in high school that told me I should be reading them. I just kind of brushed her off. That was in 2000, and they weren't as popular then. A couple of years later, I decided to read one when my uncle told me he thought I would like them. Now I have the whole set, well, except for the last one. We live too far from the nearest town to go just for one book. When we go down to pick up my son's furniture on Monday or Tuesday, we will be buying the last Harry Potter book if we can find it. I've read all the others this week in anticipation.

5. twoey68 (9631) | 2 years ago | If you like the movies then I'd say give the books a try. Some things are different but for the most part they are the same but with more details. I read the first 4 books and have the 5th but haven't read it. They are packed away right now or I probably would have read the 5th one by now. We do have the first 5 movies on DVD and we've watched them like a million times.

| 6. PatronusCharm (46) | 2 years ago | In my opinion you should read it. It won't take long. they look like tomes but they are so interesting you will finish them quickly. And don't judge the books by movies. they have cut out so much. to read or not to is up to you. but it is perhaps the most famous series of the decade. so just give it a try. try the first book. If you think you like it go ahead.

7. ayumitakashi (2228) | 2 years ago | To be serious I think that you should read the books because the movies don't tell the whole story. The books are more precise and you will enjoy them. I don't think it'll take you a long time because when you start you probably won't stop reading it. But that's your choice but I think you should check out the first one at least which isn't even too big.
