Will they let him in college now? |
| |
| Eastern Illinois University received a mysterious package addressed to the admissions office that warranted a visit form the bomb squad! The envelope was dirty and ripped, had no return address, several misspellings, and tape all over it. The campus post office called the police, who xrayed the strange looking package. The only thing inside was an application for admission to the college. Administrators say that the student will receive the same chance of admission to the 12,500 student campus that others have. (Yeah right...what's that thing about first impressions?) Would you have opened the package...or called police? | | | | | |

| | I am sure that the person who sent their application in this manner will be scrutinized very closely before being admitted into the college. Yes, I would have called the police. Now a days, we all have to be careful of any suspicious packages. | | | | | | |

| | I have worked and worked with my son over the years for his "messy" handwriting. You can finally read what he writes. I think this is a case where maybe Mom or Dad should have stepped in and said "Hey...don't mail that looking like that!" | | | |

| | I suppose if he is a really good sports player they will let him in gladly. My daughter was not good at any sports, therefore, even though they let her into the school she could never get a scholarship. Fortunately, we were able to help her and she got a job. When she went off to Optometry school she was able to get help from our state since they didn't have a school for that. The help was called "Witchy" or something like that. | | | | | | |

| | My daughter is going to nursing school on a music scholarship. Sports are not the only thing that colleges give scholarships for. Our schools here offer choral music, band, art, journalism, history, science and math scholarships as well as academic scholarships for good ACT/SAT scores and their overall GPA | | | |

| | She wasn't good in music. Took after me and can't sing a good note of any kind. She did play in the band but didn't feel she had time for that. I don't know about the other things. She probably felt she needed to spend her time on the required courses. She is a fairly smart person but certainly had to work for her grades while others skipped classes and spent the evenings partying. Maybe they just studied by themselves in the day. Someone always had to take notes from the classes to pass out to all the students. When they knew there would be a test they showed up or when it was their day to take notes. | | | |

| | that is pretty tacky. Of course, it's one of the reasons that we have raked and scraped to send out kids to a private school. They kept a closer eye on the kids here. There were only 14 in my daughter's class. | | | |

| | I worked for a law firm several years ago, before and right after 9/11. I remember our mail department getting having to wear gloves all the time to open the mail. One day, one of them opened a package and all this white stuff flew out of it. We were terrified, the police took it away, but we never did find out what it was, just that we weren't in any danger. | | | |

| | That student if this was done on purpose and he didnot have a reasonable explanation would be barred from entrance to any university that i say in But I would listen and wait for what he had to say We do not joke about things like this Yes i would have called the police because i wouldnot want to be the culprit if there was a problem Good Luck | | | | | | |

| | I would have to agree. I'd be very suspicious of letting him on campus after something like that. I wonder if he was just that naive or trying to play a joke. Something about the whole story just didn't add up to me. | | | |

| | It is just not safe to let your kids go anywhere it would seem. I just have to let them go and let God protect them. Scary sometimes to be a mom of 3 young adults who are going off on their own. | | | |
