In my town we have the best tap water in the whole country.I have never ever had any reason to buy
bottled water even with the different flavors that
are available. However there are certain people who
say that bottled water is better. Is it?

It is only better if your place has no good tap water. My city is considered to have one of the best tap waters in the world. But still some people use bottled water.
Well, I don't think it's because of health. I think it's more on the fact that it's easier to carry bottled water than your own jug. And most people I know just re-use the bottled water container anyways.
Plus in offices, it's better to buy or rent the dispenser than buying a refrigerator and containers.
I think tap water is better because it still has the essential minerals that are take out in bottled water.

Yeah, maybe it's because it's the "in" thing. People feel they're "in" the fad if they follow. But I don't believe everyone needs bottled water.
Here's a news about bad effects of bottled water to our Mother Earth:
San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom last month signed an executive order prohibiting city departments from buying bottled water, saying the move would save taxpayers money and be good for the planet.
"Each year, people are drinking 30 billion throwaway bottles of water," said the Sierra Club's Ruth Caplan. "If you put them end to end, it would go around the world more than 150 times."
Caplan said four out of five plastic water bottles end up in landfills, but even before they get there, they've taken a toll on the environment.
To get to a store shelf in Chicago, for instance, a bottle of water from France must first travel more than 5,000 miles on ships and in trucks. And because water is heavy, transporting it requires a lot of fuel.
ABC News crunched the numbers -- taking into account mileage and fuel requirements -- and found that even before you drink that one-liter (or a 33.8 ounce) bottle of French water in Chicago, you've already consumed roughly 2 ounces of oil. And that doesn't include the oil used to make the plastic.
In addition, the entire process -- bottling, packaging and shipping -- creates pollution and greenhouse gases.
"It's ironic that on some of the labels of the bottles, you see snow-capped mountains and glaciers when in fact the production of the bottle is contributing to global warming, which is melting those snowcaps and those glaciers," said Allen Hershkowitz at the Natural Resources Defense Council.

Though i sometimes buy bottled water, i still prefer to drink tap water. It is very true that there are a lots of people say that bottled water is much better than of tap water coz it is more safe. I just don't know. I think it isn't.

I think that some people are just showing off buying
bottled water.Like you said the water in your area
is safe.Maybe theirs is too,but they will buy the
bottled water just because Mr. and Mrs. Jones are
are buying it.I am glad that there still are sensible
people like you around Yvonne. !!!!!lol

Well,in my town drinking tap water is scary. The water makes a white ring when dried. Sometimes it is cloudy in the glass. It also has a strong smell of chlorine. I buy bottled water to use when I am on the go. I am in the process of renovating my kitchen and I am planning on getting a filtration system put in place.Any suggestions?
