I woke up just before 5:00 this morning to lightening flashing and thunder crashing so loud that it was rattling windows. I love to watch the brilliance of a lightening storm in the darkness. But as I turned to face to face the window on my side of the bed, what I got was a face full of rain water.
The central air conditioning unit that was installed in our house when we bought it probably isn't large enough. We decided to add a windown unit on the opposite end of the house, and that combined with the central unit, keeps the rooms at a pleasant temperature.
The storm winds were blowing so hard, that it was driving the rain into the intake section of the air conditioner, which in turn was blowing it into my bedroom. Jumping up, I stepped into a puddle of water that had pooled below the window.
We quickly turned off and unplugged the AC, then mopped up the water from the floor and the wall. Changed the wet sheets and crawled back into bed.
As I snuggled down under a summer quilt and listened to rain pound on the roof, I breathed a prayer of thanks.
There was no water near the electrical outlet, which could have been a disaster. God had kept my family safe.
And, I was reminded of some of my favorite scriptures:
Psalm 121:1-3
I lift up my eyes to the hills-where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip-he who watches over you will not slumber.

Wow! The Lord was watching over you and your family, and I thank HIm for that. I love to sit at night and watch through the fan the stars at night. We have ac but the fan won't quit running since the last thunderstorm and we don't have enough savings to get it fixed. We run it during the hottest part of the day, then at night and in the early mornings we put fans in the windows to cool. I know that the Lord will provide what we need. Thanks again for the little reminders.

Are you not just so thankful that the weather has finally cooled a bit here in central Arkansas? Yesterday, was almost a perfect day. It was still a little warm, but there were breezes blowing. God takes care of and provides for my family on a daily basis. I just need to always remember to look for those provisions and say thank you.

I don't know if you'll believe this or not, but reading some of the posts and devotionals here on myLot has moved me to get myself back on track spiritually. I have deleted a lot of questionable material from my life and am paying more attention to these devotionals and prayers. Keep up the good work, and know that God is working through you!

Let me tell you something that you might or might not believe. I missed this post when I was going back and answering discussions. This was originally posted 3 months ago. I never marked a best response or responded to anyone. I felt really bad when I stumbled on it for feeling like I had neglected those that were kind enough to respond.
Then I read yours and knew that God had allowed me to miss it for a reason. because I needed your kind words to affirm that I am supposed to continue to post the devotions here at mylot. There were several that had no responses, and I wondered if they were going anyone any good spiritually.

I think we forget or do not notice all the times that we are kept safely, in spite of danger all around us. I like to think that I notice it more and more as I mature, but sometimes I do not know. I just hum along and say, "Wow, wasn't that a lucky break?" When it was not, it was a loving break, from God.

I can sometimes look back over my life and see so many times when God has kept me from a particular danger. It's amazing, because at that time, I had not idea that I was even in danger! I remember being delayed in going somewhere and I was just irate that I wasn't going to be on time to this meeting. When I got on to the interstate to drive there, traffic was backed up for miles. Because of a multi-car accident. If I'd left on time, the truck who lost control might have hit me.

Thank you for the kind words. I'm glad that my writing can make you smile. It is certainly why I continue to write and post the devotions. God just blesses me through all my friends here. It is such an affirmation that I'm writing what God tells me to when it touches someone else's heart.

Wow God bless you for your positivity! Instead of seeing your situation as something terrible and just cursing off because there was water in your room you looked at it in a different perspective and thanked God anyways! I am very very very happy for you
! Thanks for the inspirations! ;)

It is sometimes hard to remember to praise God in the storms. But we must simply remember that God leads us through the hard times in our lives so that we can appreciate the good times. If everything was good all the time, we would take them for granted and never be thankful for anything.
