Avast for windows vista?  |

 I tried Avast antivirus and firewall, it works well with windows XP on my desk top but I get an error when I install it on my laptop that has windows vista - any suggestions?

| santuccie (1940) | 3 years ago | Neither. It's the real McAfee, but you're getting it free through AOL. It has McAfee antivirus, antispyware, and firewall. It has other features as well, the most important of which run automatically. For example, if you're just surfing the web when your browser hangs, then a message pops up and says a script is causing Internet Explorer to run slowly, you can abort (terminate) the script right there. Chances are, it may be one of those JavaScript iFrames that will try to infect your computer with malware. | |

3.  Taskr36 (4490) | 3 years ago | Well I don't use Vista, but I did use Vista RC2 before it was officially released and Avast Antivirus worked perfectly. I can't speak for the firewall though. I've heard alot of complaints about how hard it is to find a 3rd party firewall for Vista. | |

 teflon09 (116) | 3 years ago |  I'm sorry, you have loaded guns against Avast.. But it still has got the best anti-virus engine and is soft on system resources... Shoule we be bothered about interface (skins you're talkin' abt) when our security is at stake.. BTW, extravagant skins put an onus on performance..

| BinKsBaBy (296) | 3 years ago |  i love avast!!!! i love the fact that it lets you deside what you want to do with the file that the flag as possibly being a threat, theres no way you can miss the air raid sounding warning!!!! LOL has scared me a few times as well as my daugher lol! I also like that I always see my virus database being updated! I had Macafee (paid for and aol type) and wasnt as happy with it as I am with avast!
As for vista had it on my desktop as well as my laptop reformated both hard drives back to XP, in my opinion Vista is too new and has way to many bugs still as well is not compatible with way too many other programs and even sites for my liking! good luck to you and gope you find something that you like for protecting your computer!!
