Selling on Ebay |
|
I listed a few items on Ebay over the past few days and I was excited because at first I got some bids and one of the items went up kind of high! I was like... wow I am making money cool.... but then...... for some reason... three people retracted their bids on three different auctions of mine!! I couldn't believe it. I thought you weren't allowed to even do that... so now they are back down low and some are without bids:( Lol stupid Ebay. Has this ever happened to you?

1. dvaryani1 (64) | 1 year ago | This is very common on ebay . You may find many people bidding on your products but all of a sudden you just loose them half the way because you are not the only on ewho is seling the products thee are many, so first just check the prices of your competitor an dthen start playing the game which can help you much better. you will learn many such things but as time passes. All the best with your new BIZZ

wooitsmolly (1430) | 1 year ago | Thank you. I am selling lots of clothing mostly, and nobody else is selling what I have up there so I dunno. My prices are super cheap too since I would just give them away to charity otherwise. Hopefully they will go back up though and I can make some money:)

2. jillmalitz (2790) | 1 year ago | I have seen stories on the news about the scams on eBay. This is a big trick. A friend of mine had it happen to her. I don't really know how anyone can stop these people from doing this.

3. Shaun72 (11120) | 1 year ago | Yeah if it is less then 46 hours you can cancel it. I did it once because I entered to high of a price. I know after someone makes so many retractions you can somehow band them from biding from you. I'm nor sure how though.I'm not to happy with ebay myself right now.

wooitsmolly (1430) | 1 year ago | I have never retracted a bid so I didn't know. Good to know though! Hopefully you resolve your issues with Ebay and stop being mad at it lol

Shaun72 (11120) | 1 year ago | Not yet but I have turned it over to paypal. it was over something I bought and still have not recived a month later.

wooitsmolly (1430) | 1 year ago | I bought something on there and it was a huge to-do because the product was missing a large piece. The seller tried to tell me the piece never came with it and it worked, but actually when I turned it on it just smelled like it was on fire and I couldn't even use it because of the missing piece. She was such a pain in the butt to deal with and refused to refund my $10 as if she was going to go broke over it. I sent it back and eventually paypal made her send the money back... but jeez I understand the frustration you are probably feeling!

wooitsmolly (1430) | 1 year ago | Yeah, that's disappointing. Mine was just a splitender for my hair so it wasn't that big of a deal.

oneandonemakesix (24167) | 1 year ago | I actually bid on a wrong item once, and I was browsing the other guys auction and put a bid on the wrong item, you CAN retract it, if you have a legitimate reason, there was less than 13 hours left on the auction, and it did sell for more than what I bid for, but I did go back and bid on the correct auction. Some people do that to try to get a better deal on the auctions.....its called shill bidding and its against Ebay's TOS they bid and then bid against themselves under different names and then retract the bids that they don't want, fortunately for you it was before the end of the auction. But it hapens.... Also with Ebay, make sure you have your listing and final value fees figured into the price of the auction, or you are going to pay more for the auction than you sell it for. Mooch

4. easyliving (1541) | 1 year ago | Yeah, there are those people who play games with the pricing. Dreive the prices up so everyone else will go away and then retract their bids and rebid at a lower price. I dont believe ebay watches that at all but it certainly would not hurt to report it if you see a trend. I would suggest you set a minimum for your merchandise so even if they do that they could not get it at a price lower than you are willing to accept. Always that 10% that screw it up for others.

5. 3lilangels (2964) | 1 year ago | there is a certain amount of hors they have up to do this, which i feel is wrong, and not fair.but you can stop them from bidding on any of your items,by going under your preferences and swithcing it to what ever you want.i sell alot of stuff too,and luckily i havent had this happen.just try to change your preferences that may work for you.good luck and nice talking to you.

7. makingpots (4072) | 1 year ago | I have only sold a few things on Ebay. I don't really know a lot about it. But I am like you, I didn't even know that you could retract a bid. I wonder if you are charged a fee for doing it. I hope so.

wooitsmolly (1430) | 1 year ago | I don't think so... I was so confused about it until I learned you could do that without any consequence. I would never bid on something I wasn't absolutely sure I could pay for. One girl sent a message telling me her mom wouldn't let her bid on it, but she did anyway, but then retracted it because her mom found out. Lol silly people.

8. touchnshine (1633) | 1 year ago | Dear wooitsmolly Don't worry it happens on ebay. From when did you started selling on ebay?? I started on 4th October 2004. In earlier days this kind of thing happens but you should not loose heart. You will definitely see good results on ebay too. Also put your items in buy it now format so that anyone can buy it then and there without entering into auction. All the best to you with your selling on ebay. I would love to see your store .. if you want to share just tell me your user id on ebay or send me the shop link .. You can view my shop link here -- http://stores.ebay.in/touchnshine

10. scarywhitegirl (2439) | 1 year ago | I haven't sold much on eBay lately, and it seems like when I list stuff, it mostly doesn't get any bids at all, and very few watchers even. I guess people just don't want my old stuff.:(
