Rawhides? |
| |
| I used to buy my Buster the basic rawhide chew toys for him to clean his teeth and exercise as far as for chewing etc. Now my wife had a coupon for $1.50 off this treat. I think it cost $4 so it was cheap as far as the amount it was totally. Now this is not a rawhide treat. It's just like a milk bone kind of. It has the same ingredients in it basically. sAME SHAPE AND all except its chewy not crunchy like milk bones. It's called Chew-Lotta. and made by Meaty Bone. The bones are offered in small med and lrg for the size of your dog. It says lasts 30% longer. It seemed these lasted him more like 50% longer than normal rawhide etc. If given a chance get these for your dog. Buster loves these and won't be getting a rawhide anytime soon as this is his new fave treat. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~ | | Chewie Bone | | | | |

| | Hi grandpa Bob, We used to always get the rawhides for our dogs, but now after hearing the warnings and confusion so much about poison and such, we haven't been getting them. And besides, they've gotten a LOT more expensive. We have 3 large dogs, with the smallest being a pointer bird dog (Rosie) just a little bigger than Buster. (She'd like to meet him by the way! She thinks he's handsome!:) Anyway, we buy the large dog Biscuits, may be we will look for these you are talking about. | | | | | | |

| | No problem! Frozen carrots are also great treats for them on hot summer days. Sometimes I will give her a chunk of raw sweet potato, too. | | | |

| | I never give my dog rawhide bones on the adice of the vet. Instead she gets the Nylabones that are supposedly indestructable. Not really, but one bone will last for about a month. They're kind of expensive ($15 for the X-Large) but she seems to really enjoy them and after hearing horror stories about the rawhide I feel much better! | | | | | | |

| | I actually got some of those for my big dog, Buddy. Either he chewed them up really fast, or he has them hid somewhere in the back yard where no one can find them. I know he loved the taste of them, because I sat outside with him for the first ten minutes or so while he chewed away. But I swear he is the "chewingest" dog I have ever seen, so it wouldn't surprise me if he worked his way through that thing real fast. Heck, even my CAST IRON sprinkler has teeth marks on it from him trying to chew on it. He actually succeeded in denting it up a bit. LOL | | | | | | |

| | Thank you for that Grandpa. I have a chihuahua and he likes to chew on things... maybe he will chew on this treat rather than my shoes! Truly, he ruined a pair of dress shoes on me. | | | | | | |

| | I am not familar with these new treats. Our Dalmation loves the rawhide too. He camn woplf it down very quickly. Our little mini fox terrier doesn't know what to do with the rawhide treats. She fiddles with them, but doesn't eat them. Would rather chew on lemon bits! | | | | | | |

| | Hi Bob, I could be a mile off base but I was told never to give a dog rawhide as they can not digest it and can cause all sorts of problems. When I had a dog we used to give her sticks that were sort of rawhide looking wrapped around a filling, I swear they were doggie drugs, she would eat one of these and we had to pull her down off the ceiling, and that is some trick for a 3 pound Yorkie. She was a sweet heart and did love her sticks. she got one a day. or more if the kids gave her one as well. I sure miss my Mindy. She had more character than a comedy play. She was at her very best after she had been out in the feild and came home with at least on paw stuck to her chin from burrs. oh the fun we had. lol | | | | | | |

| | Both of my dogs love those! Neither of them chew stuff very often, but they both NEED to, because of their teeth. We bought them each a big rawhide bone for Christmas in 2005, and when we were moving last month, we found over half of one still left, if that tells you how they feel about rawhide. lol We bought them some of those Chew Lotta's, and they each ate one in a matter of about 2 weeks. That's pretty fast for both of them. Normally they just get bored too fast with chewing on stuff. We are at least lucky in that they don't chew on things they aren't supposed to, either! Our smaller dog will chew noses and eyes off of toys if our toddler leaves them out, but otherwise she leaves everything alone. | | | | | | |

| | this made me think - why do dogs need to chew bones? is it like babies when they teeth? they need to chew something so that their teeth can emerge more easily? but I'm sure dogs don't chew for the same reason. they have extra jaw energy that they need to expend? doesn't it give them lock jaw or make their gums hurt? | | | | | | |
