Yes, I do remember him and he died way too young.
What a wonderful voice he had. None even come close in my opinion. Such great talent...

I do remember some of his famous songs. But my 13 year old niece is a huge fan. She's got loads of ornaments and clocks and just about anything you can think of with an elvis face on it.

I remember that day so well. I had just arrived in the US one month before (07/17/77) and was so exited to find out that he was coming to Savannah in October. That was one concert I intended to be. On that fateful day my daughter was so shocked to see me crying (she was also 12 years old) when I told her Elvis had died she too started to cry. We were both Elvis fans and had been so looking forward to attending his concert. What a loss. I'm sure he died with much more music in him.

I have always loved Elvis. He was my Mothers age too, but I would have married that man if I could have! I've always wondered what it would have been like had he lived.

Well well, something else you and I have sort of in common. Today, Aug. 16th, is my grandson's 10th birthday. We all are big Elvis fans also. I never did get the chance to see him perform in person. My youngest daughter was 1 yr and 7 months old when Elvis died and I can tell you that she is a hugh fan of Elvis. It is wonderful that even people who were not born or were so young in age that they could not possible know him from when he was alive are now some of his biggest fans. Oh I think I told you also that my puppy, named Elvis, was born on Elvi's b-day and we were not aware of it at the time when we named him.

I was only one year old when Elvis died. I have loved his music for as long as I can remember though. I remember listening to Wooden Heart in the kitchen on a cassette player when I was about four.
I've grown to love him even more over the years. When I discovered his early music is when I really started to see how great he was. I buy every book, CD and DVD that I can find about Elvis. I watched the `68 Comeback Special on DVD the other night. It had loads of extra footage and was over 7 hours long, but I loved every second of it. The two full concerts he did sitting down with his band was included on it.

John Lennon once said "without Elvis there would have been no Beatles". He was right. Without Elvis there wouldn't have been a lot of things.

I can remember a time when I lived and breathed Elvis. I "found" him when I was 9. Watching him on the TV and then hushing everyone when he came on the radio. My favorite Aunt bought my first album for me. I started buying the 45's when I was 12. If only I still had that collection today. My youngest learned to talk/sing to his songs. This day is not just a reminder of loosing my favorite singer/star/guy, but also that my second child would have been 30 this year. I still remember the newsbreak during my favorite soap opera, the news that Elvis had died. The tears flowed freely and hysterically for me that day. It wasn't just that Elvis had died, but it was a "oh God no, not another" moment. I gave bith to a little girl that summer, my second. She died the same day she was born. I still carry her with me in the form of a scar. They had to take her by emergency C-Section. It's hard to believe she would be 30 this year. I often wonder what she would have been like. Who she would have loked like. Hey, maybe he's still singing up there, and my little Marie Katherine is listening to him now.

I think the saddest thing about Elvis's death was the way he died. For all the good music, although I am not a fan and the cheesy films, I was a fan when I was little, it was ashame this is how he is remembered by the media and how it became a joke.

My mate is a great fan, she has him posted all over her office, has a cup of him and a screensaver of him, so I see quite alot of Elvis.
There is a new singing competition coming on TV about Elvis. What I find funny is when people impersonate him, they usually go for the 7o's look when he looked so cool years before.

I believe that if Elvis were still living he would still be performing his music. He had a wonderful voice. Sad that his life ended so soon.
