I'm listening to Springsteen's origanal right now and it just shows how talented Rage are/were, being able to take what sounds like a completely different song and make it entirely their own. On their version the lyrics (especially the "welcome to the new world order" line) sound exactly like they were written for angry rap/rock protest.
The style of the origanal sounds like an influance on what Tom Morello's doing now as The Nightwatchman.

I have considered "ghost" as my all time favorite rage songs and connect it more to rage than the boss.
It isn't surprising though, Bruce and Rage have more in common than you think. Most of Springsteen's song are "socially oriented" in fact "Born in the USA" was supposed to be an anti-vietnam protest song.
