I have known my wife for a long time before we got married. And I have been trying eversince to get a pair of tickets to go to the parade so that we can view the fireworks up close. This is the first time I managed to get tickets to go see the celebration of Singapore's birthday with my wife! Eventhough it is not the actual day ticket, we are still able to go see the fireworks up close! After the show, everyone was rushing to go back. Leaving the stadium in throng, the roads was packed with cars and people! We managed to get up a cab at the other side of Marina Square, the side facing Pan Pacific hotel. Take a while guess how long it took us to get around to the esplanade side in order to go towards nicole highway? A frigging 45 mins, and 11 dollars to the meter! I almost fainted! I started to grumble about the traffic condition and the cab driver thought that I was complaining about him. He got impatient and started to horn at every one who got in his way. Even then, I am still stuck in numerous other congestion on many of the other roads! By the time I got back home, the fare on the meter is enough for me to travel from one end of the island to the other! I gritted my teeth and paid for it. Sigh.... poorer by another 20 plus dollars! what would you have done if you were in my situation? Would you have gotten off the cab to avoid any further escalation of the fare and take the public transport? Or would you have sit tight and just go all the way home since you are already in the cab? Share you views. If you want more pictures, let me know, and I will try to post more pictures!

i heard about the horrible congestion. there was some funny person on tv that said 'oh yes i heard it's very crowded so I'm getting my son to drive down and pick me up' famous last words i guess. her son must have taken hours to get there in the jam. i didn't know just waiting time could cause the meter to orun up to 11 bucks! goodness gracious! lots of ppl who tried to walk to city hall mrt took 1 hr and those who tried to walk to raffles place mrt took 45 mins. but it was sardine packed and people just had to shuffle there body packed to body. if the shops were still open i'd shop till the crowds dissipated. :P but i guess that would take hours.

tell me about it! The road between marina square and the esplanade is really packed! I can't imagine what it would be like to drive a manual car during that time. I guess you would have gain an extra muscle on your left calf from all that half clutching to inch the car forward. Even the trains are packed? I guess looking back, it was not all that bad to be stuck in traffic in the cab. At least the wait was comfortable. No sticky, smelly, sweaty bodies brushing against you when traveling home. :p
