i've been dying to write again.. i just need some thoughts to be out on paper..or on the internet.. i haven't made any short stories for quite some time and i feel like i'm losing it.. i write less when i'm happy..and i write more when i'm depressed.. but you know, i'd prefer to write when im inspired..i just wish inspiration will come to me..i want to tell stories, make people excited about it and ask me for more.. it may sound selfish, and yes, i know it is.. i need inspiration.. and to the writers out there..how do you get your inspiration, i know its sounds cliche but i just want to know..i could also be suggestion for me..^_^ thanks in advance..

News stories are great prompts, or even movies and books. You take something simple like a fairy tale, say Little Red Riding Hood, and mix it up; change the story. There are websites that have great creative writing prompts. As well there is a book by Judy Reeves called "A Writer's Book of Days" which has daily writing prompts and then some. Join a writing group. We are given writing prompts at our bi-monthly meetings and I have actually written a whole novel from all the prompts I wrote from over a year or so. Once you get a story started, keep it in mind when you get a prompt. Think about how it could work for your story. There are writing websites that send out weekly newsletters in which they always include a prompt or two. writersdigest.com and oncewritten.com are just two of those. Also, look back into your own life experiences. Take something that happened to you or someone you know and make it your own story. The saying "write what you know" holds a lot of weight. Think about it. Good luck!

You know I have been writing all my life it seems. But I wanted to start making money for it and it wasn't working for me. So I have been writing articles for websites. This gives me time to write everyday and pick up ideas. I don't think I will be getting that novel published anytime soon but I am making the contacts I need so when I do decide to it will work. Good luck...hey also pick up books that have writing ideas. I know writersdigest.com has writing prompts that you can use to get started. Write every day...make it a part of your life.
