We were on vacation last week and I made a campfire by myself for the first time. We did get lots of rain and it was tricky for me to get it going but finally I did. I am originally from the city and don't have any camping experience. We had lots of fun and we roasted marshmallows. Do you have campfires? Do you know how to make a fire? Do you remember sitting around a campfire with family and friends when you were a kid?

Yup! I know how to make a fire, you get a lighter and some lighter fluid and whoosh!!! Seriously though I really haven't been camping, although I have stayed at a lodge in the woods several times, and the camp directors built a fire. I am an expert at indoor roasted marshmallows. We had a gas stove, and I would get a skewer and put a marshmallow or two on it, and hold them over the stove. They tasted just the same. The only thing I have never gotten, is how do you put the chocolate on the skewer so you can make smores?

We made smores too! I only made fires with lighter fluid but didn't have it so I think I was struggling a bit to get one with just some paper and a lighter hehe Thanks for the post!

You made smores? How did you get the chocolate to melt? You can't get that on a stick!!!

Oh, that's a good idea!!! I guess I will try that the next time I am camping, although no one knows when that will be. Until then I will stick to the microwave method lol!

When it comes to making fire, I and most of the people in Africa are used to it cos even when I was a kid, we did make it in harmathan season. That's when we are cold, we will set the fire and get our body warm. Thanks

I was raised in Yosemite National Park in California so I did not go camping as a child. The first time I went camping was as an adult about 10 years ago. I love it if I can go somewhere where there is a real bathroom with a shower. LOL I am a whinny.

HellO!
When I was a kid, me and my family would have a vacation at my grandparents farm. My grandfather would teach me, my brother and my cousins how to make fire and make campfires. It was exciting and great fun. We used to gather around the campfire and listen to the sound of the animals. My uncle would then tell us some funny stories and some scary stories. Then my grandfather would play his guitar and then we would all sing along and dance. Those days were unforgettable and i'm missing it. Thanks for sharing. Take care.
ciao! txel
