Recommend a couple of good toys...

It is always hard to come up with ideas of GOOD gifts to give to your child. During my childcare course we had a module on children with "disabilities" and we researched some sites on the net for things such as suitable toys etc...I couldn't remember any of the ones that I found last time so I had a quick look around and I thought if you had a chance you could have a quick click through some of the sites. does your child have a speech delay? if yes i suggest giving him a musical toy with song that would let him sing that could teach him to talk correctly, it can develop his motor skill. just suggesting!

I like buying books for my son. As books are alway very good gift. Besides, I think boys like playing car toys, bricks and so on.

I don't know if there's an actual name for this sort of toy, but you often see them at doctor's offices. It's basically a bunch of brightly colored wire, twisted into "tracks," onto which wooden beads are strung. So you can slide the wooden beads along their track, either one at a time or as a group. The pieces of wire are bent into different shapes, so some of them will have a loop, some are straight, etc. I've always thought those were neat toys, and they're both brightly colored and make some noise, though not the obnoxious electronic noise of a lot of toys.

Also, my niece (she's 2 1/2) LOVES the new Weebles, which are much bigger than the Weebles from when we were kids. Definitely much more kid safe now!:)

As an education major I am a huge fan of educational toys or toys that help with motor skills. I was babysitting my cousin yesterday and we were playing with those megabloks (http://www.megabloks.com/) and they have the cutest things that stack on top. They're little characters like from Toy Story, the Wizard of Oz, and the Lion King. Also when I was younger I loved kitchen sets and doll houses, and yes I know boys who play with both. Or I'd say any kind of books, and last year I got my cousin one of those Aqua Doodle floor boards that you can color on with water.

what about musical toys, sometimes the stimulation and cause and effect of a cheap keyboard, drums, (bongo type things) might be good, music that he likes....

My daughter, I've been told by a psychologist, has a form of autism, but don't tell the public schools taht they want mroe funding so called her MR...but she loves music, and anything to do with it.

I find things that have a cuase and effect, like the pound a balls, discovery toys, although sometimes pricy, are wonderful for early learning, and learning development. What about the tupperware shape o ball?

I'll try to think of more, but htat's what I'm thinking of at the moment.

the number one thing i recommend is this digital camera for kids. it's a great gift. when i look at the pictures that my daughter takes i laugh, and cry. the pictures are things that we would not normally document, things that the child likes. it's a great way to remember the things they liked when they were young. the fisher price one is cool because it's large enough and made so that they can not block the flash or the shot with their fingers. it's also built to be dropped so it will last. i think you should think about it. it's a bit pricey, but its a good buy. hope you enjoy it.
