bitten by a mosquito that carries the virus. It is a scary thing to know that an unsuspecting bite can and has caused death.
Here is a link to see how many people in your state have been affected by it and to what extent.

Do you know anyone that has unfortunately been bitten by an infected pest?
Does it scare you that it could happen to you?
What precautions do you take against this virus? Please do share your thoughts here.

We don't get the west nile virus here in mosquiotes. We do get the Ross River virus from mozzies. it's quite a nasty virus.
Its amazing how many viruses are carried by mossies. They say that 60% of deaths in Africa could be wiped out, if the mozzies were killed.

There have been no reports of west nile infections in humans in our area. There have been a couple of horses and a few months ago a crow in a neighboring county tested positive.
I try to limit my dusk time exposure. I f I have to be out for long periods in the evenings I will wear a repellent or burn citronella candles. You can also grow the citronella plant that works as well as the candles.
