I started a discussion about AVG, Avast, NOD32 etc as anti-virus programs and which was better.
Mention was made of having different spyware programs.
Is it okay to have say AVG & Avast running together?
Will one pick up on what the other misses out on?
I had 'malware' come into my computer with AVG running, and had to install Avast to get rid of it.
Should I now get rid of Avast and keep AVG?
Should I now get rid of AVG & keep Avast?
Or, is there a better program out there?
If so, please send me the link so I can look at it.
I used to have Norton, but found I was getting a lot more spam emails than I ever did without it.
All advice will be gratefully processed, and I will get the 'computer geek' to check it out for me.
Thanks, Bel

Which AVG program do you use? A lot of people use the freee version, AVG 6, but it is not as good as Pro.
I use AVG 7, & it has been excellent. I have never had a problem with it, & I don't get viruses.
I am not familiar with Avast.
I use other spyware/adware programs, which only run when I want them to run.

I personally love avast, but the fact that you had to install avast to get rid of what AVG did not catch to begin with tells you that you most likly want to keep avast running. However I have heard of lots of people running both avast and AVG together and I haven't heard of any of them haveing any issues with running both anti viruses at the sametime. However I personally only run avast but I see no reason you cant run them both if you would like to.
