Kenny Rogers still rocks  | | | |  I recently went to buy a cd for the new player I got for my studio and while ambling down the aisles looking for something new...I found something old. A cd of Kenny Roger's greatest hits. I bought it, brought it home and love every song he sings on it. Like don't fall in love with a dreamer...Everytime two fools collide...etc. Sometimes I think some of the older songs are still the best. What do you think and what are the older songs that really rock you?

| | Yes it is.....I think sometimes and it's my own opinion that some of the older singers have something the newer ones don't and that is class. Dolly Parton...even Johnny Cash. I don't listen to country much but spent alot of today listening and watching the country videos...some of them I wouldn't waste my time watching again. I think maybe I am getting old! LOL Do you have any other country singers you like? More the modern ones? | | | |

| |  Oh, the day Johnny Cash died, was a sad day. What a wonderful musical legacy he left behind! As for the modern ones, Little Big Town is my favorite country gorup, and I do like Martina McBride and Carrie Underwood, but my favorites are Sara Evans, Brad Paisley, Miranda Lambert, and Trent Tomlinson. Miranda and Trent are a bit more edgy, but the song Trent sings called 'One Wing in the Fire' gets my heart. It makes me think of my uncle, my mom's brother. I also recommend the song 'I Wonder' by Kellie Pickler. I never watched American Idol, but apparently she was in the top 10 before being eliminated. Her mom left her when she was really young, and her dad went to jail, so she wrote this song about running into her mother again someday.

| |  yes kenny rogers is one the great sinsgers america has produced. i love his voice so cool and lovely. nice voice. sweet to the ears and tender. i fell in love with voice. i wanted to listen to his music over and over again. just because of the voice. and also of the great songs he was singing.

| |  I prefer the songs I grew up with. Mostly, 70's and 80's light rock, but also 'coffeehouse' type music. Funny, though, I can't ever think of music I want to listen to, but when something comes on, I go, oh, yeah, I love this song!!!! About the only two that consistently come to mind are Jimmy Buffet and James Taylor.

| |  I can never remember the name of the song but it says he will love her until old ladies no longer talk about old men and things like that.
It makes me cry every time and I tingle just thinking about it, I'm gonna love you for ever and ever, for ever and ever, amen!
I don't know if the old songs are better than the new ones, they do hold memories that the new ones can't yet. Susan
