ALl of those gowns are nasty, both paper and fabric.
If given the option, I would bring my own gown and sheet, take it home with me and wash it when I get done and bring it back the next time. Would be easy for the doctor, less garbage in the land fill and more comfortable for me.
Everyone wins!

Thats a wonderful Idea! You should paten it or spread the word. I might just take on with me next time and see what they say.

I guess the laundry bill for hospital gowns would be something a doctor office wouldn't want to invest in. I imagine they think, it only takes a few minutes, the paper piece of crap wouldn't hurt. LOL, I went a couple weeks ago and STRONGLY suggested they let me keep my T-shirt on. I had to pull it up of course, for the 'upper body pokes', but I felt like I had retained a little of my dignity. They were very nice and let me cling to the illusion I left with my pride. : ) By the way, I am rereading my response, and I really don't like how the 'poke' comment sounded. Ick.

The last time I went to the doctor I had a regular gown that tied in the back.. Thank goodness my local hospital isn't that cheap... I don't mean that in a bad way but I mean come on really you might as well get a news paper and wrap yourself in that lol... Sorry I just had to say that...

Awwwww but copperkitten those paper gowns make me feel so gosh darn sexy *rolls eyes*. I know that for sanitary reasons and to save money because their cheap that is why they use the paper ones, but I would rather have a sheet or hospital gown any day!

I sure do agree. I would much rather have the hospital gowns, than the paper ones. They are very uncomfortable, and if you move too much, they are likely to rip. That is very disturbing, when that happens.

Oh my - we don't have those paper gowns in England - and I must say I am glad about it from what you say! We just have Hospital gowns, which aren't exactly elegant, but at least not so uncomfortable and this rough and scratchy paper - ugh!!

I think they're a sorry excuse for trying to give you a little bit of privacy. They're going to look at everything anyway, so why not just make you sit in the room naked? I mean, what is the point in trying to cover up with paper? Seriously, I'd rather sit in the room naked. I think I'd feel more comfortable that way, at least that way I don't have to deal with a horrible feeling paper gown, and besides, they're going to look anyway, so I might as well make it easier on them.

i have only gone for an exam ONCE and that was because we were trying to find out if i had ovarian or uteran cancer and see if that was the cause of my problems. i already know i have PCO, so the only reason to get ckecked now would be to screen for such things. Well, i don't care if i have cancer or not. i don't want to know. So i have no reason to get checked. However, when i DID get checked, i absoutely REFUSED to get completely naked. i was wearing a skirt, so i removed my panties, but i would not remove anything else. That was sufficient. They didn't need to see me in my full naked glory to give me a PAP.

Have those gowns where?!? I don't think that they would sell too well wherever they are at lol. I have never experienced the paper gown, my GYN has the lovely puke green with blue and brown stripes, tie up in the back cloth gowns. Whose idea was it to make those gowns without a back anyway?!? The important part that the GYN is looking at is in the front, isn't it? Whenever I am in the hospital and have to wear that gown, I always request two, one to put on forwards and tie in the back, one to put on backwards and tie in the front!

I don't care about the paper gowns. I mean, you're in them for what? 5 minutes? I mean..ok ignore the 35 minutes you're in it waiting for the doctor to come in, but still the exam is probably 5 minutes max. Why get all comfy in a nice gown for 5 minutes of uncomfortable awkwardness?
I'm cool with the overall uncomfortableness of it.

What I hate the most is how HUGE they are! I realize that they can't have lots of sizes but couldn't they have more than one? Small and large would suffice!
